Monster smash on the M6 at around 9pm last night attended by 20 plus Patrols, two fire engines and several ambulances after a suicidal driver got on the north bound carriageway, travelling south and ploughed into an innocent family in their car, head on.

The world is one fukced up place.

thats really sick, fair enough if someone wants to end thier life but to harm other people in the process is wrong.

Thats just awful. If your going to kill yourself fair enough but there's no need to injure and possible kill other people and children in the process.

Is it this one?

Doesn't suggest a suicide at the moment (but then the Beeb are fastidious about getting facts right before publishing these days)

Heard about this on the local radio just now, sounded terrible.

Hope the boy pulls through.

Woulden't be the first time an OAP has joined a motorway, the WRONG way around,
was only last year (I think) this happened not far from here.

you'd think however to somehow inadventantly drive down an up ramp, and join a carriageway
where the only other cars raced toward you, might alert you
but it has happened, either way very sad

Apparently wasn't an OAP and wasn't suicide either - very weird...

A lot of people I see can't drive 14 miles safely with the flow of the traffic never mind against it. The mind really does boggle how this sort of thing happens - I feel sorry for all concerned.

To manage 14 miles he must have been conscious and dodging like mad.

Trying to escape from police maybe?

Sounds like enough time to have got the carriageway closed, or at least to have got traffic to a standstill.

Helicopter could have closed the m'way. Police cars. Overhead gantry signs could have just said all lanes closed.

J26 is my rents and my sisters junction I got on there heading south @ that time so missed it all luckily.

Just heard kind of indirectly from a firebloke who was at the scene, it looks like it was very probably suicide. Pretty selfish way to go.

11-12 minutes from joining the m-way to the end, even assuming the police were called instantly and verified it straight away that's not much time to mess about with daredevil helecopter stunts or organise a m-way closure. This isn't the police's fault.
