walton on thames and hersham
Discussion
Yeah, used to work in W-on-T and found the house prices shocking. The market seems to have cooled a little of late so if you are prepared to give on a couple of things like off-street parking then £250k is reasonable. But for some reason W-on-T is seen as a bit posh and the postcode lottery does apply..... jump a code or two and you will find places equally as nice but cheaper....
Depends on the budget though - as Tonker mentioned, £1m+ for private roaded cul-de-sac's and an attitude to go with it. My old boss lives on one of these roads and the twitching curtains and looks you get when you drive down them are shocking! Couldnt be doing with that myself.... mind you, he was the one who bought two houses next door to each other and ended up knocking one down because he wanted a bigger garden
really peeved the neighbours on that one, especially with all of the trucks going up and down the road...
worth it just for their look on their faces alone.... (mind you, he now has the most expensive house on the road, worth a cool £2m+ and he didnt pay that for it!!!!

Tonker, I thought esher and cobham with both more expensive ? We are looking at around the £320k ish mark, but it must have off street parking/ garage

£££££££££££ Hersham is definatly a tad on the pikey side especially near the station, friday night is the worst, hordes of kids hanging around drinking or riding thier mopeds up and down trying to look cool, there are some nice parts of Walton on thames but it can prove rather expensive, Cobham Esher and Oxshott are lovely areas but forget about a 3 bedroom house for realistic money, have you considered Weybridge or Molsey?
Avoid Hersham. Like the plague. Unless you are unmarried with nine children. Then the council will probably give you a place for free.
The local mob did do an interesting removal job a few years ago by beating up the local paedos though. Apparently the coucil housed a few next to Sarah Paynes parents.
The bad bits of Hersham are the estates. If its not an estate - its probably not too bad. And if you do move to Hersham, you'll get used to putting your address as Walton on Thames anyway.
Oh, and don't let your daughters walk home from Hersham Station as thats where Milly Dowler was abducted.

No it was walton, Walton has some VERY strange people in it, and when i say strange I mean pervs and killers, there have been soooo many kidnappings and attacks around there over the years, the guy who attacked that french girl on twic green bunged her mobile in at walton bridge and they are investigating three people there for kidnapp and murder at the momment, check the papers. Lots of my friends live/ grew up there and I play rugby in walton ( weybridge vandals on desbourgh island ), I much prefer weybridge as an area than Walton, up and coming to so you won't lose out moving there at the momment, Walton on the order hand is not cheap and won't change much either.
