I have just had this e-mailed to me and it worked.....

Have ago and see

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you
would like to have chocolate

(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755 ..

If you haven't, add 1754.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number .

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are ..

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2005) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND

how does this work - these little maths things always give the right answer so it is something in the middle of the equation that does it but what?

Give me a number and the year you were born and I'll give you a number and your age.

Hmmm. Let me see. You effectively tell me the year you were born and a random number between 1 and 9. I add the provisio that it only works in this calendar year and, by crikey, I can magically tell you what the number you chose was and your age! Wonders will never cease...

Nothing spooky about it. It's just like the old playground 'magic' trick:

- think of a number
- double it
- add 4
- halve it
- take away the number you first thought of

the answer is 2, right? oooohh!
