Can anyone recommend a good, and not too expensive, insurer for a week's skiing in France? Needs to cover off-piste too. I normally use Egg but noticed there's a clause:

Where your Egg policy includes winter sports cover, then you are covered for off-piste skiing provided that this is with a guide and is not undertaken against local authority warning or advice
As we're not planning on taking a guide, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of insurers without restrictions? Even better if you've made a claim.

cheers

I've always used dogtag insurance for sports holidays.

IIRC they cover pretty much everything.

Never had the misfortune to claim, but Snowcard www.snowcard.co.uk/ are one of the few to offer off-piste cover.

I have an annual family holiday policy with ski club of great britain - off piste covered, more than 10 days ski holidays covered etc. But in addition to being pretty good on ski risks, it also covers most other risky sports. Had to claim once for money stolen from chalet and they were efficient with the claim and paid up promptly. It's cheaper if you are a memeber of ski club GB (I think).
