Mother's breast-feeding 'crime'

A police force is investigating a mother's complaint that she was made to "feel like a criminal" when an officer reprimanded her for breast-feeding her baby in public.
Margaret Boyle-White, 34, fed her eight-week-old baby, Niamh, on a bench in the main street of the small market town of Watton in Norfolk.
As she walked away, she says a police car pulled alongside her and a male, uniformed officer got out and told her that he was "following up" a complaint.
Mrs Boyle-White, a food company production manager, said: "He then asked me to refrain from breast-feeding in public. He said he could not 'do me' for it but suggested that I use a restaurant or cafe in future.
"I was really surprised and embarrassed. I nearly died on the spot.
"The policeman made me feel like a criminal for doing something which is perfectly natural. I have breast-fed in public many times before and not had any complaints. I was made to feel that I had committed a crime.
"I think that people are happy to accept that mothers can breast-feed in public but when they actually see it happening, they don't like it.
"I have done it again since but the police made me feel I was doing something very wrong."
A spokesman for Norfolk police said: "We are investigating the background to this allegation but Norfolk Constabulary does not have any issues with breast-feeding."

So no laws actually broken then.... I'm more concerned with the prude that complained in the first place

Yes, but have you have you ever walked into a cafe to be confronted by several mothers breastfeeding their children? Puts you right off! It should be done in private. Sometimes I feel the need for the toilet in the middle of the street, but I manage to wait...
Taking a tommy tit is a bit different to feeding a hungry baby though....

Would you want to eat your dinner in a public toilet?

Interesting..... but would you feel as squeemish if you saw several young women in the cafe sitting their with the breasts exposed ( with no babies )?

Why, it is completely natural.
It is a very strange analogy to compare it to relieving yourself in the middle of the street. For starters breast feeding in public leaves no such 'waste' behind.

I find that somewhat appealing!

Yes that's kind of what I'm getting at. I think it's the emotional conflict that results from seeing something that most men consider as a sexual apparatus, being used for it's real purpose i.e. to feed a child, it interests me why this makes some men ( assuming it's mainly men ) feel uncomfortable.
Every experience I've ever had of somebody breastfeeding in public has never been a pleasant sight. Boobs out in public is public indecency, with a baby on the end isn't? Where do you draw the line? It classifies the same as smoking to me. I don't mind you doing it, just not near me thank you.
