Totally shameless plug but hopefully some will find it interesting, low display and air to air filming

Taken this morning outside the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, they are part of a photoshoot we are doing for the new plane.
Tomorrow we will have footage from the chase plane which should be fantastic, will post if any interest

I take it from the noise they were having to work hard to keep the speed down - or is it just a noisy fecker? The Lear jet does look comical nextto that levathian for sure!

Has airbus completed the evacuation tests yet?

I hear they're having probs getting everyone out in time.

Great little movie, can't wait for the next episode.

The sound track is not totally real, we had to cut and paste the sound to make it flow better since from one angle the waves were drowing out the AC noise, the plane is actually really quiet, you could clearly hear the Lear over the top of the 380 as they did the chase scenes.
Off to studio now to look at rushes of the 35mm film taken from the Lear, will post later.

The footage of the evac tests was on the Discovery channel a while ogo on the "making off" programme that they showed. The engineers passed the version that they tested. Impressive to watch a large group of people barrelling down the ramp, some tests with them running down the ramp and some with them sliding. They even had to do a wet test with sprinklers set to torrential rain! There was upwards of 10 people on the slide at the same time, two by two. The ramp itself exits the plane at a right angle, not the traditional straight out style, with a standing area at the top, as such, before the ramp itself.

Brilliant vids by the way .

the evac tests are an issue, the version we plan to launch with is fine (550 3 class) but there is also a HD version for short haul that is still waiting certification.(650 2 class)
We shall see, to be honest all evac tests are pretty unrealistic and do not take into account real people and their attitudes, their attraction to their personal goods and loved ones.
But TBH there have been good instances e.g. Toronto where despite slide failures all pax were evacuated.

Great vids willmcc.

I’ve heard rumours but do you know for certain if EK plan to fly an A380 into Manchester. I’m due to fly with Emirates next April (B773ER) & probably will do for a few years so the possibility of an A380 service would be fantastic.

Welcome on board, did you hear about the Boeing order today for 42 777s. I have worked for 3 airlines world wide but I have to say this is the fastest moving job I have ever had.
We were on the 777 lr today which is going to change a lot of the airline map.

Didn't answer qusetion, the 380 is designed to fit into airports that have limited slots.
So the idea is to fly one aircraft with 550 on board instead of 2 or 3 smaller planes.
So all of UK is market along with India and Australia.
Also France (cdg) and some German airports.
Short haul is middle East to india which is still our most profitable route.
