My dad does this....

Last night, while my dad and his wife were asleep in their sleepy little village, someone used a piece of his own bamboo from his garden to fish his house keys off his hook in his hallway...

Once they had the house keys they let themselves in and took the rest of the keys.

They took his wifes hand bag which was conveniently located at the foot of the stairs and took the keys to both the cars. My dads 3.0 turbo Saab has since been found a couple of miles away by one of my dads neighbours 'grounded' and unlocked on a verge with a completely destroyed back wheel and he has been and rescued his golf equipment out of the boot, so they weren't interested in a couple of K's worth of golf stuff. But he can't move, or even secure the car as he had his spare keys on that bloody hook too....

The police are now going to come and take the car away and examine it, but there is no sign that they have done it yet. Lets hope his car doesn't get torched in the mean time.

Still no word of his wifes car , but it's one of those little 106's so it doesn't really matter on the grand scheme of things

When my dad came down in the morning he noticed that the front door wasn't closed properly and the light was on in the living room, so he went back upstairs and had a go at the wife, then he got a phone call from a nieghbour checking they were ok as both of the cars were gone at an unusual time...village life eh?

They go in a drawer......but we dont have a letter box, we have a box for the post on the wall outside.

My brother-in-law used to leave his keys in the door, then one night someone came along, melted something on the end of a metal rod, which cooled and stuck to their key in the door so they could turn the key and open the door. My brother and sister-in-law were upstairs asleep, but my sister-in-law woke and heard them in the house. She never felt safe on her own in the house after that.

And watch out when leaving tools/gardening kit lying around - our next door neighbours got robbed yesterday.

The scrotes used OUR gardening fork to break in (old shed dismantled, new one going up tomorrow!). Thank god we've got a modern conservatory style door at the back!

Sounds like a good reason to get a dawgie. You might sleep through this, but Mutley won't.

No letterbox and I make a point letting my dog answer the door with me.
Unsavoury characters touting to “Cut your Hedge governor” tend to bugger off pretty quick with an Alsatian cross sniffing their crotch.

I made the same mistake once - but then locked myself out of the house ..... then used a long stick and some wire to fish for my keys, it was easy.

I was working for a company where i got to drive some prestigous cars. I would drop the car off at the end of the night and put the keys into a drop box. One night i did this and realised i had left my house keys in the S Class Merc I had just locked up. I fished the merc keys back out of the drop box using a branch from the bush next to it

Ours are in sight of the front door but there's an inside door to get past 1st. Someone tried it before. Clanked their stick against the glass of the second door and promptly set the burglar alarm off. Cue half the neighbourhood waking up and coming out, as our alarm "never goes off".
