...........blue tits, coal tits, dunnocks, robins, woodpeckers, all came to our bird table this morning. Is everyone else putting out food to help the small birds get through the cold snap?

Yep, I do at home and work - my office window overlooks a bit of rough ground and I have feeders on the fence and my window - knee deep in tits the last few days and some are pressed right up against the glass

Much the same here - the birds are very attracted to my nuts so I get to see lots of tits.

I woke up this morning and there they were, two birds, nibbleing away on my nuts, a pair of great tits.

We regularly put treats out for the birds, but it's usually the squirrels that end up nibbling on my nuts so there's never enough for the tits to get excited about.

Squirrels.....bastids! I had a battle last winter with one that kept raiding the table.....tried all sorts of things, the final solution? I invested in a 'Black Widow' catapult

You made me feel guilty this morning, so raided my cupboards for the nuts and seeds, but didn't have many.

So went to the local pet superstore, and bought nuts, two giant fat balls, and a nutty fat block. They should be the fattest tits around now.

It's a real problem. Birds are so well fed through the winter months by humans, that when it comes to summer, there's not enough food to sustain the population. Hundreds starve...

Prob small fish compared to the amount hit on the roads and killed by cats though!
