Any good?

looking at a few pairs over lunch break seem comfy on trial in shop but what they like for running in. mainly run in gym on machine, saves me getting cold or run over at the moment.
also tempted for a pair just for walking about in can they cope with this or are they more of a serious running shoe?

cheers all.

IMO they are more for show than anything else but are pretty soft if that's what you are after.

If you want something for the Gym, get to a proper running shoe shop & they will ask lots of q's & select trainers which suit your needs better (often cheaper than JJB etc too).

Yep, NB or Asics are very good for running in. Plus, if your only doing a bit on a treadmill you may as well just spend £30 on the basic pair from either brand and keep em in your gym locker.

Nike are primaraly a fashion item really and the Shox seem a little heavy for running in. The new nike free's are interesting though? Maybe have a look at those.

IIRC the pegasus are supposed to be pretty good. The Free range look interesting, not sure if they will do a version which will replace my fatboys Brooks Beasts

Go to a proper running shop. Take your old trainers so they can have a look at how they've worn away. They should let you go for a quick run in them to get the feel, I ran up and down the road in my jeans looking like a pillock when I was choosing mine.

There used to be a list of proper shops on runnersworld.co.uk but I can't find it anymore.

www.sweatshop.co.uk/ are supposed to be very good if you have one locally.

It depends on your mileage but I personally wouldn't run in £30 'fashion' trainers even on a treadmil, you are asking for injuries. If you want to save some money ask if they have any out of date lines they are selling cheap. They change the design of the trainers every year but the old ones are still fine.
