It's worth you letting somebody else get it on DVD, borrow it for free and Fast Forward through the Cruise bits............

Decent movie, but put the original 50's version in your collection, rather than the new one!

Not great, not shit. Okay as a Sunday evening or Sat pm recovery session movie.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say it's a 5/6

If you love the Jeff Wayne album you'll be disappointed (i was) but the film in its own right is very good.

Edited just had to put the album on now!

Saw it at the cinema & was completely underawed by it. Correction: what a waste of an evening, I could have better used the money for a night in the pub. The special effects are neat (as you'd expect) but I thought the rest of it was pretty poor (put those special effects in the original & you'd have a good movie). Nice car in the beginning but after 5 mins of the film I was hoping that the entire cast met gory deaths asap. It's got the lot, a screaming young girl, a yoof with a bad attitude, parents at war, typical domenstic bliss. I thought the original film was brilliant (esp when the special effects were on a par with other films) but at no point during the original did I want the Martians to win like I did when watching the latest. And not a mention of Horsell Common or Woking!

Isn't there someone making a proper adaptation of the book at the moment?

There is already a proper adaption of the book.. It is an awful film though. There was even a re-edit to make it watchable!

If ever i get a fare to Woking i stay away from Horsell common,i never want to get rodgered by little men with one eye and ariels.

Sorry slightly off topic,i once had a little chinese fella get in and ask for Woking,as ime barreling up to the M3 he say,"where you growing" ......it turned out he wanted the Wok Inn tateaway.
Guess you had to be there

Was diassapointed by the film. The action sequences and CGI are very good, but it lacks something.
Got the old Jeff Wayne soundtrack out of the cupboard and gave it a blast last night. Bloody awesome, Burton's voice makes it !!
If you don't have the album then buy that and just rent the movie.

I didn't like it at all and they must be the most disfunctional, annoying family on earth (I hope so).
