Just what I need - I've gone and torn the ligaments in my right ankle. Can't sleep - just dosed myself up with yet more co-codamol and naproxen, and I really don't think I'm going to be getting any sleep tonight. I'm sure it would have been less painful if I'd just broken the bloody thing. Haven't worked out how to get down the stairs yet, so methinks I'll do a PH all-nighter. Anything interesting happen to the world yesterday while I was being plastered up in the RUH?

It's still spinning, if that's what you mean. What transpired from your make-or-break business deal?

I'm sure it was PH-power what won it!

Only problem is I doubt I'm going to be in much of a fit state to do any work for the next couple of days .

Good. Is that bouncy Smiley bouncing on one leg?

No. Knowing my luck so reckless an act would certainly end in severe injury...

Your predicament reminds of the best sketch written by Peter Cook when just out of university: a one-legged actor played by a bouncing grinning Dudley Moore enters an agent's office to audition for Tarzan, the movie. A severely conflated verion is: "I couldn't help notice," says the agent played by Cook, "You are ... solo-pedded- not that there's anything wrong with that. As soon as you came through my door I said, now there's a great leg. Terrific. It's just that you failed to follow it up."

And so the sketch continues ...

I have nothing against your right leg Mr Spigot, the only problem is, neither have you!
