Our dog has gone missing yesterday at 5.15pm.I think We've tried everything to find him but would appreciate it if any pher's good point out anything we haven't done.
We have phoned police, local vets, local kennels, local rspca kennnels put posters up in the local school, pubs post office and spar shop, and have looked everywhere in the local area.
He seems to have been spooked by a volley of "SHELLS" which are very loud screaming fireworks that have gone off nearby. He has slipped out of the house and managed to lift off the wrought iron gates with his head which must have got stuck in the gates as his ID tag and address were still under the gate.He is 14 years old and has never been on his own for more than 10 minutes before, so we are all worried about him, thanks for any help. Dougie.

I hate to be the one to suggest this, but have you rung the local council up, if an animal is reported at the side of the road, they usually pick them up.

I hope this comes up a blank, I have a dog thats scared of fireworks, and I would be going frantic if he ran off.

Hope you find him safe and soon.

Thanks for that, I forgot to say I've rang the council dog warden and they have had no reports of dog's found at the side of the road, and I was on the m6 near my house last night and he wasn't there either.

Being a dog owner, I feel for you. When I find a dog running free I`ll take it home and phone the Police and keep it for a day or two just to give it more time to by reclaimed.
Go out and talk to dog walkers they are the ones most likely to remember seeing a dog out alone around Bonfire night.

I hope you will be telling us soon that he has been found.

Dougie get in touch with the local cab firms ,ask the bell ops to put it across all the radios and let it be known there will be a reward and print off some copies to peg up in their offices, plus stick some on cardboard and mount them in all the streets around on lamp posts.
Best of luck mate and hope you find your pet.

Thanks for that mate, never thought of that. I can't see him moving around much at night though, as he is going a bit blind and a lot deaf because of his age.

Ever want to know whats going on in your town ask a cab driver

Look for groups of kids aswell Dougie(i see you have done the local school)do all the schools in your area ,there is something about animals and kids that attract each other.
I do hope you find your dog as there are two next door that are spooked by the fireworks, scares the hell out of them

Sorry to hear that Dougie - he's a lovely looking dog (in fact, looks remarkably like our dog, who's also a nervous wreck at fireworks time)

If you haven't already done so, it might be worth a walk round the neighbourhood asking people to check he hasn't got stuck in a shed or outbuilding somewhere.

Hope you find him safe & well soon.

Sorry to hear that dougie, when our dog went missing we always knew where to look- down by the river he'd be in there splashing about. How about posters on lampposts?
Give it time, he will get hungry and approach someone soon.

I was going to suggest you do this, too.

I'm very sorry to hear your sad news. You must be beside yourself with worry. I really really hope he'll be found and returns home safe and sound, poor old thing.

About a year ago a young puppy bounded into my front garden and I took it to the local police station. He was returned to the owner, not that I got any thanks (turned out to be a neighbour's) but I was more than happy to do the right thing for the dog.

Thanks Ros,We are hoping somebody has taken him in and will see the posters and hand him back, because his name tag was torn off by the gate.
