Just been doing the bills.

What is it with these people?

Due to bitter experience, before sending any money anywhere every month I just check the payee details to make sure that I have the correct destination account, sort codes, reference numbers, contact phone number bla bla. Experience tells me it is best to make sure deatils are right.

Almost every flaming month on one of the bills I have to alter the payee details.

This month its the turn of M&S. The reference used to be the account number which is different from the card number. Then they altered it to the card number a few months ago. I distinctly remember doing this because the account is in Mrs FiF's name and I had to scarf her card out of that bulk shipping container she calls a handbag.

Anyway this month's bill is back to the account number. For crying out loud.. arrrrggggghhh!

Does anyone else have this problem or do you just whing your money off into cyberspace expecting it to get there safely?

Never had any problems like that. The only thing I don't like about it is that if you direct money to the wrong account or person by mistake, that's it, no chance of getting it reversed. I did it this week, I had a £350 credit card bill and a £100 electric bill, I mistakenly put the £350 in the electric account which didn't leave enough money for the credit card, luckily my salary went in a day later so it was covered but I am now £250 in credit with the electric company which will take 6 or 9 months to use up. I did phone the bank immediately but the nice person in India just told me "tough luck" or words to that effect.

I've never had a problem (touch wood).
The M&S one baffles me how it works, but it does. I still pay (it's now an &More or something card) using our old M&S chargecard details. It works fine.

I don't do internet banking, I like the old-fashioned "see the whites of their eyes approach"...

...odd considering the internet is a part of what I do for a living!

Yep wait for the bills and send a cheque for credit cards.........then hubby doesn't know what I've spent. Household bills on DD so they take care of themselves.

Never had a problem. (Firstdirect).

Been using them for phone/internet banking for 15 years, and not had any payments gone astray.

(Mind you, still paying the M&S card on the details I set up yonks ago, but it still seems to appear on the statement.

FiF, I think they're just out to get you
