Well nearly 20 years of it, and you could not say I have not tried, she has had every think, last 5 years been trying to patch things up it seems we have just driffted apart, different interests and changed personalitys. oh well I get to keep the house in spain.
Anyone need a lodger ????.

Been there, done that! My sympathy for now. You wonder why you made the effort, and that you've wasted your life. BUT! all is not in vain...............Seriously!
Get the paperwork and official stuff sorted as soon as possible, the longer it goes on, the more they start to demand (Note, I didn't say "ask for!"
If you can, sort things out yourselves (difficult if there's kids under 18) see if she'll agree to just one soliciter for the pair of you, just to sort the legal bits out. Let her have what she wants out of the house, come to some arrangement. give here half of the equity in the house (after you've deducted the morgage settlement figure etc) She'll be gobsmacked about how agreeable you are, and sign. Then that's it, what you earn from then on, is yours! not ours! 
you'll soon realise that femals are VERY expensive to run, don't get another one......not perminantly anyway!)
I finished up with 2 morgages (the original, + one to buy her half of the property) £50 in the bank, and an old car. Within 6 years, I'd paid off both morgages (house is mine now!) got a decent car, 2 kitcars, new furniture (that I like!) big TV, and the bank balance is growing steadily.
I pay a woman to come in and clean now & again, when I can't be arsed.
Other women would be told not to take their coats off, their knickers, yes, but not their coats, they aren't stopping!
