OK I am a member on S14.net (BMW E30 M3) forum, since if you recall I was interested in buying an E30 M3 (posted the thread about "Can you use an E30 M3 as a daily driver".

Anyway in the end I got a 190E cosworth, since they're cheaper and I have a 190E already so figured it would be easier to fix stuff etc.

I posted on s14.net about it and added some pics for those who seemed interested to see (need to educate those Americans ) and stuff, and this one guy got really narked off. Look at page 2, post 4 of the thread.

Do you think I was being unreasonable, or is this the good old fashioned BMW owner "I'm better than everyone else" thing?

Certainly far removed from the friendly atmosphere on PH anyway .

Theres always one or two, especially Americans for some reason, get all one eyed about a particular make and defend it to the death. I usually avoid specific make forums excpet on technical matters, they can get tunnel vision sometimes.

Wow, you found a geek with an attitude problem on an internet forum. What were the chances of that happening?

Nice car BTW.

to be honest i think you over reacted in your reply.
you start off asking for advice on thier inferior car, and it kind of sounded like you were going in with your mind made up.
fair enough if you post one or two pics of your car, but you posted quite a few, and then links to roadtests, and meets etc.
the guy you got upset about was quite politely saying this is a bmw forum, if you want to talk mercs, why not go there.....nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

It is just a discussion about cars though. No need to get worked up because someone drives a different brand.

S14? Why is a BMW forum called that?

To be fair, you could have posted something like that in any forum (inc PH ones) and have that reaction. (if that makes sense)

S14 is the BMW engine code for the 2.3 and 2.5L engines fitted to the E30 M3. A 2.0L version of the engine was also fiited to the Italian 320is. The forum is mainly for just these cars.

S14.net is an awesome forum for anything M3 related . Sadly , as it gets more and more popular, so the trolls turn up and start shite.

Some times we get all keen and starey eyed over something, ime the same, and then someone has to go and spoil it by bringing us down to earth with a bump in a way he is right but then he's got tunnel vision and although ime into vettes i find nothing as boring as just going to a vette show,i need variation, other types of cars!, dont worry about it atleast the majority enjoyed your contribution.

To be fair, some people get like that with TVRs... it's a car, not a way of life.

Nonsense. A TVR is a way of life. A way of life that leads to debtors' prison.

Or in the case of the Corvette and similar forums, threaten death to those who criticize their steeds.
