I was nosing around a car boot sale recently when I came across a small group of people clearly having a heated arguement.

Apparently, amongst one family's selection of CDs and unwanted toys was a piggy bank in the shape of a pig (of course).

A couple of men of Indian descent were insisting that the "offending" item be removed from the sale as it was causing distress to them.

Now, since I was a kid, we have lost Robinson's Gollies from the jam, we can not teach our kids about the black sheep of the family.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not a racist. Some of my best friends are Asian and Afro Carribean and when I have mentioned this to them, they just think it is as daft as I do. Is it just a fanatical few who are taking offence or is it more deep rooted.

It is now getting to the point that we have to vet everything we say or do before we open our mouths.

Can anyone please expand on this as I am intrigued?

And what happens if they ever come across a pig farm - should they be banned!

Absolute nonsense the whole thing. I believe that a good 90% of this is done by trouble makers, and not those who have any deep religious or cultural conviction..

I think the best option would be to tell them where to go.

Are you sure they weren't just pulling someones leg? Most of the Muslims that I know don't eat pork but wouldn't go out of their way to stop anybody else eating it or to abolish pig shaped "Piggy banks".

I find that incredible.

I think it is a shame that we now have to put this declaration into any conversation we have about this sort of thing

PC? Yes, probably.

Tolerance is the key. PC is enforced tolerance by the indiginous masses of minority beliefs. Unfortunately this does seem to be a one way street in a lot of cases, as there is no tolerance by those minorities for our beliefs.

What next? Sandwich bars stopped from producing BLT's and bacon butties?

Personally I find Chicken Tika Massala grossly offensive. Does anyone care?

Why single out Afro-Carribeans for mention- why not African Americans, or ethnic Africans - as white Africans can't be called ethnic Africans - even if their ancestors have lived in Africa for over 400 years.

I'd better alert ASDA when I go in to get cheap booze. After all we have a large muslim population round here (especially checkout gurls) who are surely planning to raze the place to the ground due to the amount of alcohol/fags/pork that are sold there. Oooh - and dont forget the Lottery machine.

Better keep an eye on them mutinous catholics too - Nov 5th is really rubbing their noses in it a bit.

And did anyone mention the

CRUSADES?

1. I'd have told them to fack off and stop disrespecting my religion (Jesus said it was OK to eat pork) while stuffing my face with a bacon sarnie

2. How long before 968 or Prof Beard's thread alarm rings?

how is that politically correct anyway.

this means that they are pushing their opinions and views onto you!!

hardly politically correct now is it. live and let live for all concerned if something bothers you then look away move on and avert your eyes.

or can we christians complain about anything that might upset our sensibilities, bloomin pointless.

1)Jesus was jewish (very) and unlikely to partake in/recomend pork. Good idea with the bacon buttie though

2)Unless they are having a day off - later

Oh I don't know... Peterpeter said he loves the smell of bacon sarnies.

It's not the race, it's the individual. If they were white, they would be moaning about kids playing with footballs or something. Should have him hard in the face and told him to stop being a cnt.

I find that remark highly offensive as the tea pot is symbolic of the British Rahj's oppression of the indian masses during their occupation of the asian subcontinent.

Somehow though I find this story highly unlikely.

Were the sellers ordered to remove it by the organisers of the sale? If not, then where's the problem? It's only really "political correctness gone mad" if bureacracy enforces it. Putting a piggy bank out at a boot sale, having someone complain about it and then nothing happening isn't actually political correctness gone mad. It's just two people "of Indian descent" making themselves look very, very silly.

No, it's not really. I use the phrase "black sheep of the family" all the time. And so can you! Try it - see what happens.
