Well, I've tried googling every possible combination
of 'Dolphin' '1000' and 'shower', with no success..
..so I'll try the PH plumbers in the Pie & Piston.

My old Dolphin 1000 shower has given up the
ghost - any idea on how to get the cover
off the thing in order to see how to get
it off the wall to replace it - no obvious
way of doing it (short of extreme violence).

Have a look through the exploded diagrams on www.theshowerdoctor.co.uk/ and then when you find the part you need - I can recommend them.

They even changed a part no problem when I misdiagnosed the problem!

Just had a look and doesn't look like much on there. Do the control knobs pull off leaving you able to remove the panel behind them perhaps?

Well...they put up a struggle, but they *did* come
away from the unit eventually...sadly for them, in
considerably more pieces than normally deemed as
'intact'. No sign of any case release mechanism
in the gaps left behind...or, indeed, in the space
behind the now defunct (whoops) mirror on the
front of the unit. Still, thanks for the web
reference.....

Looks like there's nothing for it but the sledgehammer option then...

Oh yes - it certainly got that. For the record,
there's a little screw at the top (full of limescale)
that lets you lift the mirror out, behind which
is a screw which releases the unit front to swing
open (found when removing the remainder of the mirror,
i.e. the parts which weren't spread over the
bathroom or stuck in my feet).

It certainly is domestic appliance week. On Monday
the dishwasher decided to flood the dining room
(not content with the kitchen) and knacker the
laminate wood flooring. I'm not even going to *try*
and get that b@stard fixed, it's straight outside
and the full Basil Fawlty for the vindictive piece
of crap. Let's see if the other appliances get the message.

God knows but I can add a knackered washing machine to the tally.
