According to the ever reliable Bristol Evening post, the Top gear team caused a bit of a traffic jam in the Bristol area on Friday when they were filming a feature for the new series. The challenege was to find a 1980s Italian sportscar for under £10K and drive it from Bristol to Reading. I am sure that it will prove to be similar to the Porsche challenge last series.

I shant give anything away only to say that one of the presenters made it approximately 2 miles from the place of purchase in his chosen car before the car died.

That'll be the brizzle hills and organised chaos of the one way system...Shame they didn't come out on the South West Pistonheaders Mexican and very very Stumble - they'd have seen their world put to rights...!

Hmm - James May was bashing the circuit at White
Waltham in the club 182 on Saturday, prior to
taking it to Italy (under adult supervision)
on Sunday - I think it was all part of another one
of those May/Hammond vs Clarkson race things.

Assuming here that 2 + 2 = 5 this could tie in to the Veyron thing in GG about a race to Italy...maybe...

Veyron - is this the thing with a W16 or somesuch engine? - I heard talk of it while I was waiting
for him to finish falling off the stepladder trying
to refuel the 182....

Translations:

Brizzle - pronounced Bri-zol - preffered method of talking about said city.

South West Pistonheaders Mexican and Stumble - pronounced with a beer in hand - was originally a Curry and Blat, but then the winter months came and it turned into a Curry and Stumble (for those who partake in drinking) - but finally (after much cojoling by a certain member who shall remain nameless and then didn't bother to turn up) we experimented (and I would say sucessfully) with a Mexican - hence Mexican and Stumble. I must add that the emphasis was on the stumble which IIRC (although it is hazy) I achieved very well as did the others who attended...

yeah, sure you dont mean Hammond? he is the dwarf, sorry vertically challenged one. May is the one who needs to be held down with rope so he doesn't float away.

My dad was walking behind Clarkson and Hammond at Gatwick airport on Monday. So maybe it was May's turn to be in the car, while the other two took the plane...

I think one of the WW instructors took the 182 out there - presumably May & Hammond didn't want to
slog it all the way down there at 140kt, and are
only on for the return gig - besides, I'm
not sure of James May has finished his PPL yet,
and in any case they'd need a CPL aboard to make
it all legal.

Yep, but some airfields also have circuits, was just wondering if there was one at White Waltham as the post intimated...

No - sorry for the confusion; and that would be
Cessna 182, not Clio 182.....
