A plain clother police man is in trouble for putting a teenager in a bin.

The police man was dealing with a group of youths who had been throwing conkers at cars and a second group including the youth in question started causing him grief.

The Policeman told the boy to stop it or the would put him in the bin, the boy said go on then.....so he did.

The only problem is that the kids were videoing it on their phones, and theres now talk of the boy sueing the police.

I right behind the copper on this one.

That is the first time in ages that I have heard of a police officer sensibly discharging his duty. The man should immediately be promoted to Chief Inspector IMO and get them back out of the offices and onto the beats again.

Bravo copper. "I'll put you in the bin"? The kid must have thought, what an idle threat, you won't do anything to me!

Oh how we laughed...until the point that we realised that innocent folk were being given cautions for videoing crimminals whilst the criminals videoed the innocent with inpunity.

Stop throwing conkers or I'll put you in the bin.

How very grown up.

Surely exercising the power he'd earned in the form of arrest would have been the way forward?

Comedy though it is.

And spent the rest of his life filling in forms, while the irritating little scrote was immediately released. It's not like the fuzz beat seven shades out of the little bigger (tempting though I'm sure it might have been).

and arrest would have been a good use of time money etc,
unfortunately this will head in the same direction now as the cameras will carry the case to court.
but what about the filming in the first place would that not be an infringement of civil rights? can all the kiddies be done for that?

That is the problem with the modern age, the police have only two options either arrest them or let them get away with petty vandalism etc.

If he arrests the chav what happens?, it will waste at least an hour of his time and the boy will be quickly released unharmed in any case.

The idea of putting him in the bin? Making him look a pleb in front of his mates.

Good on the Copper, I'm right behind him.

Let's get a protest march organised!

memo to plebs/herberts/chavs:- back chatting a copper is not big or clever and the result of which will make you look like a even bigger pleb than you actually already are!

I fully appreciate that it was the correct thing to do, to do something.

However, and I really dont want to come across here as leftie, we have a framework of process when applying the law. Rightly or wrongly its here and the validity of the legal system on some level rests upon it. The fact that it would lead to a lot of paperwork is the fault of the system. I just cannot see how policemen creating their own punishments on the spot is a good path to be going down, even a little.

FWIW, I would have liked to have seen a car come, sling him in the cells and his parents called for a bit of an ear bending and the boy to go through the humility of being collected from a police station. This to be applied without the tremedous burden of triplicate paperwork.

There was a risk with contents of the bin as well.

I'm sure I've heard oldies talking about the good old days when the local bobbie could give a youth a clip round the ear.

Is this really so much different?

The criminals here are those calling for an investigation. When presented with the video phone evidence the police should have smashed the phones and sent the little tossers home in tears. The fact that this is even news is disgusting. No wonder the police are becoming disillusioned.

From reading the article is sounds as though Anop Singh gave permission to be put in the bin

Hackey copper simply complied with a request from a MOP!
