Bastion of impartiality Beeb, in the opening sentence of a piece about David Cameron, describes him as a 'toff'.

Why then don't they describe people from humble/poor backgrounds as 'pleb'? Seems fair to me.

I am constantly amazed that a well educated person from a good background is somehow automatically deemed unfit for high office, yet the opposite is somehow championed.

Aren't people selective in what they chose to hear.

They asked three questions about how the public might perceive him ONE of them of which was "is he, like Tony Blair, just another public school toff?".

All in all, I thought the report showed him in a very good light.

That's effectively prompted recall; it's their words and their assumption.

My point remains entirely valid. I ask you to consider if the BBC would EVER say, of someone else, "is he, like *** ***, just another comprehensive school pleb?".

I think not. I certainly didn't go to Eton or any similar school, but I find this constant attacking of anything 'better' very tiring and shallow. If nothing else, it merely fuels class warfare.

But remember that the whole point of the question was in effect getting him to justify why he can represent the whole conservative party, and, if elected, the whole country. The perception of elitism and being out of touch with 'ordinary folk' will be played over and over by the Labour party at the next election. Cameron knows full well (as does the BBC and the rest of the media)that he needs to tackle that now rather than in four years time.

Ah but Simpo you and I know that the Beeb is somewhere to left of Pravda in its views and is one of lives givens. None the less is extremely irritating and frankly insulting to the intelligence

I would imagine later this evening we will subjected to another supposedly unbiased cross sectional BBC audience on Question Time made up of all the usual Communists, Marxists, yoghurt weaving man haters, Burka wearing tantric nudist practising anti capitalists and god knows what other detritus they can drag onto the set.

It makes me seethe to even think about seeing some 18st earth mother having a go at the token conservative on last weeks show, this weeks and next weeks whilst under constant fire from the heard of the hopeless the Beeb have dragged in to berate the poor soul……

Back to David Cameron, what I would love to hear coming out of the mouths of some of the BBC’s Stasi trained reporters is even if David Cameron has had a fortunate start to life why would this in anyway diminish his ability to lead the country? I haven’t the time to go looking how many Etonians have been PM? No doubt there have been several and many from other noteworthy public schools. Did this diminish their ability to govern? Has this is any way made our country worse? Of course it bloody hasn’t so why make a point of it?

Come the revolution Kaplinsky had better be finding herself a blindfold as she’s first up against the wall with a last cigarette!!

Me, I voting Cameron

PS We can talk about this more when we go looking at Mosler's next weekend. How much would you like to go gunning one of those at some bypass protestors?

Even the photos they show in the background show him smiling, and davis scowling.

However, to ask those questions does NOT imply the interviewer holds those opinions.

True, however the Beeb holds a lot of wieght with the British public and it's "opinion" pieces tend to be confused with fact in some people's minds.

If they were all recruited from the Granaud none would be left working for that paper.

They're not all recruited from the Guardian, however the Guardian is the principle external recruitment pipeline for the BBC. In fact other than the Beeb's website and a few occasional targetted campaigns the Guardian is the pretty much the sole recruitment pipeline for it's jobs. This will of course mean that, in general, Guardian readers are more likely to seea and apply for the roles, and (whilst I appreciate I am generalising) this will mean that people of a certain political bent will be more likely to end up working for the BBC. I'm not sure how good a job the BBC does to ensure that all reports are untainted by this.

And, shock, horror, surprise, a few of those journalists are clandestine MI6 operatives. On my Monday morning news briefings one sat in at every meeting - a situtation that I found intolerable.
This I find unbelievable, so you;re saying you had regular news briefings with the BBC and there was a MI6 operative sat with you? This raises a number of questions, mainly: How do you know the person was MI6? Where were the briefings being held? What were the news briefings? What was your role in the briefings - a Journalist?

I've never discussed that with him, but he does a good line in cynical impartiality.
