They are both "Hat Trick" productions so there is a definite link between the two programmes. "Hat Trick" is owned by Jimmy Mulville who does far too little acting these days. The only time I come across him performing at the moment is in the excellent Andy Hamilton Radio 4 series "Old Harry's Game".

Mrs Fish, read the whole thread eh!

Its 'Who's line is it, anyway', not 'Who is it'.

ETA - I can't believe I just typed that. Its 'Have I got news for you'.

What a dik I am.

Fine performance by Mr Dee! Unfortunately I made the mistake of changing channels at the end to be confronted by 30 less entertaining minutes with Stephen Fry in the chair for QI.

I beg to disagree. I LOVE "QI".

Good hour's worth of intelligent humour (for a change), I thought.

Absolutely. QI really is excellent, and it was refreshingly nice to see Stephen Fry being challenged for his status as 'cleverest person there' by Rory McGrath.

Jack Dee is my favourite standup comic, and he seemed to add a nice 'non-political but still sharp' edge to the show. Paul Merton does the same, but he generally spins off in a random direction.

It was a good hour of telly last night!

Indeed, QI is absolutely superb and is quite possibly the best TV programme currently on our admittedly crap schedule.

Hey ho! You guys are clearly more amused by Latin bird names than me. Alan Davies can be very good but barely said a word last night.

Actually, the Latin Bird Name episode was LAST week's QI (if you have BBC 4).

I find Paul Merton to be about as funny as a hot soldering iron down the Jap's eye, but you're entitled to your opinion...
He tries to do 'spontaneously funny' but merely talks utter sh!te about nothing, which anyone could do and which isn't funny.
Listen carefully and you'll find that only half the audience laughs at him, and half of them are only doing it to be polite...
