So we buy some lead. You know, dark grey, heavy metal.
The seller estimates that there's sixteen TONS of the stuff, and we offer them a pittance for it, which they accept.

We send an artic and a forklift to the far end of beyond (well OK, London :D ) to collect it.

About lunchtime I get a phone call: "The aric is full."

"Good", say I, "See you when you get back."

"No, you don't understand: the artic is full but there's LESS THAN HALF the lead on board - and the trailer is bending."

:yikes: Someone slightly under-estimated this thirty-five tons of lead, then.

So now I have a slight problem: the wooden floor is NOT going to take this.

And what do you want us to do about it? Perhaps each of us could take a small piece up in our cars...

Look on the bright side, you've got 35 tonnes of Pb for less than the price of 16

I can imagine the negotiations: "You want THREE GRAND for 16 tons of bloody lead?!?! You can't even get BBC2 on it!"

What could you possibly NEED sixteen tons of lead for in the first place?

Sell it back to them for the cost of 12 tons and head off to the pub for the afternoon with the proceeds

Take half away, then go back and get the other half? Surely you were making enough on one load to warrant the trip, so two loads and two trips will be fine too?

I am a simpleton though

That's true. Would you like to buy some lead?

This thread is plumb silly. Or am I being dense?
