Granny hands out fivers

A 79-year-old grandmother has been handing out £5 notes to passers-by in Liverpool city centre.

Ruby Dickens says she doesn't need the money and wants to spread a little happiness.

Ruby has been approaching people in Liverpool for the past three days and offering them a fiver.

She says she gives away around £150 per day and targets mainly students and young people who look like they could use it.

The widow, who describes herself as comfortable but not wealthy denied being extravagant and said she was simply enjoying spreading happiness.

What a lovely lady!

(I hope she isn't senile, or it would be sad.)

Still, I bet her relations are delighted at how she is spending the inheritance....

Good on her.

Nice story but Ananova running it with a photo means the muggers now know who to target.

I don't think Muggers will look at Ananova site (more like The Sun site or can't afford internet in first place !!)

That was my reaction.

Nobody gives away £5 notes.

Looks like one of those social TV windups to me.
