Ken Loache's Sweet Sixteen. Amazing acting, epecially from the lead Martin Compston, superb script and faultless direction. I'd go as far as saying that it is one of the best films that I have ever seen.

American Graffiti is brilliant. Local Hero is one of my very favourite films of all time.

Glengarry Glenross. Brilliant.

Another one i like is Billy Elliot ,set around the time of the miners strike and although based on the 80's the film to me hints at what times could of been like during the depression of the 30's and how the miners and their families suffered,at times depressing but very entertaining.
