Chris Evans back on Radio 2
Discussion
And the otherside of the coin...when he first started he was good but he went downhill from there - all that stuff on radio 1, the not turning up on fridays and the way he treated his colleagues was appalling. He just thought he was a god and that turned me(and my tranny)off. The broadcasters just couldn't get enough of him but I think it was a case of the emperor's new clothes and they all believed each others hype and hysteria. I was pleased when he disappeared but does seem to have mellowed a bit now so second chance awaits.

I won't be happy until Mark and Lard replace that God-awful Steve Wright's 'Big show'. so I can have a laugh in the afternoon, instead of cringing!
Yep, everyone else in the office thinks he's ace - despite the fact he is still doing the same old act he always has done. I found it funny as a child on radio 1 (for a while) I find it less amusing nowadays. Mark and Lard on the other hand, broadcasting geniuses

He was very good on GLR many years ago.
When he made teh move to TV, at least his shows were amusing and a bit different. They ran for, what, 1 or 2 series and then moved on.
Then the TFI gig came along... Rather than killing it off after a couple of runs it just kept on going and going and going. Frankly it all got to be rather boring.
Then the R1 job. My god, what a tw4t. So far up himself he practically turned inside out.

I met Chris Evans and his whole gang at the height of their Radio 1 fame in a hotel in the snooker room. I was probably about 14 or 15 at the time and was with my dad and bro.
The entire team were very genuine, and ended up playing snooker with me and my bro until late in the evening. We were betting for £1 (the game where you hit a ball around the table and whoever gets closest wins) and were loving it.
Then some fat scottish
came up, slapped two £50's on the table and exclaimed to do some real man's betting. That completely annoyed everyone and the night ended there.
My experience of him, and my opinion from his radio shows, is that he's a funny, nice guy, who goes a bit AWOL now and then.

I loved him on GLR, and as this is Pistongheads I'll repeat a story he told.
He said something to the effect of "When you get a bit of success and some money, you go out and buy a nobby car. And that makes you feel important, so I've bought this nobby car [944?] and they have an extremely nice man who comes and picks it up, and he's always very nice and very polite. I'd not had the car very long and it started making a metallic clunking noise, every time I braked or acclerated, so I called the garage and complained and they sent the very nice man round and he took the car away. Then when he brought it back I asked if they'd fixed the problem and he said yest they had. So I asked what caused it and he said it was an empty coke can under the drivers seat".
What I liked about the story was the way he was so self deprecating.

I used to listen to Radio 1 but got fed up with the presenters, so I switched to Radio 2.
Then Radio 2 brought Steve Wright over from Radio 1. He was a t**t over there and became a t**t on Radio 2.
The condescending Jeremy Vines replaced the brilliant Jimmy Young.
NOW they bring in irritating Evans and his zoo radio!!!
Radio 4 beckons.

Bring back Fat Harry White!
And One Man and his Frog, with Scoth Cruddle and Constable Spagnoguland!!!![]()
Oh yes, and Wheel of Misfortune!!!
I agree, the afternoons are not the same without:
"One man and his frog"
"Vague News"
"Chalk or Cheese"
"Slim & Shady"
"Cheesily Cheerful Chart Challenge"
and not forgetting: "The Non Essential Selection"
They were absolute classics and are sorely missed!!
