So, Tesco have managed to redeem themselves somewhat just recently, by stocking a range of interesting frozen seafood such as mussels (decent size!), king prawns, lobster, king scallops and squid. Makes up (almost) for them dropping all the stuff I like, opening 24 hours but havign nothing useful post 7pm, making fresh bread that lasts less than 24 hours, reducing their catfood selection to make room for faux fur rugs, and reducing prices oh-so-far while still managing to make a huage profit as well as fit their stores out with plasma and LCD screens everywhere you look. Ummm, I'd better stop there and get on with blathering about calamari.

Being a bit of a seafood fan, I bought a few things from the aforementioned frozen selection, and finally got around to cooking myself some stuffed calamari tonight. It was luvvery :) (Stuffed with chopped chicken, prawn, lemongrass, peas, brocoli, thai basil and garlic, then baked in a tomato sauce topped with breadcrumbs and parmesan).

So, are there any favourite calamari recipes here? Anything majoring on the quick and easy, rather than stuff involving being, like, organised :) I never manage to do anything like marinades in advance...

And what's the wisdom these days w.r.t. colesterol and prawns, squid etc? Used to be said to be v. high in it, but the good type or the bad type?

Speaking as someone on cholesterol watch I've been told that the oily fish - sardines, herring, sea bass, salmon etc (with the omega 3 fatty acids) are the best seafood for good HDL cholesterol levels
