Oh dear,

I was just driving back to work when ahead of me someone stopped to turn right across oncoming traffic. I stopped in the queue behind them. Unfortunately, the Nissan Micra behind me didn't. Sadly for them, a couple of tonnes of knackered old pickup truck is a lot less squishy than the front end of a city runaround.

They're ok, I'm fine (got a light tap on the back of my head from the cab window as they hit me, nothing to worry about). Their car is a concertina'd write off. I need to get the lump hammer out and straighten my tow hook.

We exchanged details, I checked their mobile number was correct, took photos of the vehicles and the scene of the accident with my phone and went on my way after checking they were ok. The young woman driving accepted full responsibility (I quote 'my foot missed the break pedal'). Do I need to do any more?

They'll have to claim on insurance, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll pop the pickup round to our friendly local garage for a quick check and to have the tow-hook banged straight and the job's done.

Sounds fair enough. They have had a bad enough day if they have just trashed their car.

Another micra off the road, don't you get a medal or award for that?

Maybe you paint a small black hatchback silhouette on your drivers door like WW2 pilots get five and your an ace

I like that!

But you should do it on the tailgate just above the tow ball, as a warning
