Yeah but I guess for the Families involved Life Should Mean Life and an official statement informing the public that he will never be released would met with more approval.

I think its getting better,i was going to post this on another thread but seeing as this is questioning our legal system ile post it here, my respect to the founder of this thread as ive no intentions to hijack.

A woman in my town has just recieved two years for a false rape claim,
judge with sense said:
in sentencing her to two years in prison judge Patrick Hooton said "You have obviously had serious problems and you do get credit for pleading guilty, but you actually did a terrible thing".
"You had an innocent man taken out of his workplace, subjected to a forensic examination, locked up in a cell and told he could be charged with rape,if it had come to court someone in my position could of given him about 6 years"

Judge was probably scared that giving an actual life sentence may be over turned by human rights claims etc...

May have been the best way of keeping him locked up as long as possible?

25k per year? You must be kidding! For an inmate in a high security gaol it will probably cost at least 100k per annum.

Why all this fuss about Huntley? He is a sicko its a given he cant be let out he should get quite a few kickings over 40 years and I be he already has no teeth left. My only disapointment is that he is not being regularly flogged and made to break rocks 16 hours a day.

A far bigger concern is that the really sick people in our society are jailing old ladies for refusing to have their money stolen, young men for doing 160mph and harming no-one and old men for shooting pikey scum for burglary. Time we sat in the public galleries in our hundreds armed with guns and bats and sentenced the judges (the sick ones) when they got it wrong. I would love to get the one that jailed the old woman and adjust his attitude.

Our legal system may be knackered but our prison system isnt.

I have faith in our villains to do the right thing.

Lampost, length of rope and stool

30 quid should be more than enough to cover it!

BBC News this lunchtime was reporting that the likelihood of him ever being released is extremely slim.

Why didn't he give her about 6 years as well then, as that's what he was going to give an innocent man? She'd be unlikely to serve the whole term (time off for good behaviour, psychoanalysis). It would have sent the right message to anyone else trying similar things on.

I feel there was a time when a judge might have let her off with a slapped wrist so its good to see things moving in the right direction,as for Huntley i agree with a previous poster why shoot him and put him out of his misery?,let him spend the rest of his tortured life in jail.

Oh i am by no means saying it isnt money well spent but there are lots of stories in papers about the quality of life inside, especially as someone like huntley will not be mixing with the armed robbers et al. i do not want to start another debate about the death penalty but a bullet costs a lot less than £1m.

Why can't he be killed via donating his organs + blood, while still awake???? Seems like a waste of spare parts imo.

Who'd want his bits in them?

You can die. Or you can have convicted child-murderer's kidney/heart/liver/spleen/lung.

Errrrrm. Difficult choice - but I think I'd rather do without his innards, thanks.
