Or more spefically Dublin?
Two weeks ago two elderly ladies on holiday from England were hit by a bus as they attempted to cross O'Connell Street in the heart of the city. It appears that a recent re-paving of the road beside the Spire has made it difficult to spot where the pavement ends and the road begins. The poor ladies kept walking out in front of the bus. Unfortunatly, one of the ladies died of her injuries a few days ago.
While I, obviously, am dismayed with this incident ever occuring, it was what happened a few seconds later that has got me very angry. A 23 year old male was reported on the news today as being charged with theft of the ladies handbag as she lay, dying as it turns out, on the road. Not 10 seconds after the incident, he stole her bag.
This, on the busiest street in Dublin. At a pedestrian crossing. Beside two of Dublins biggest tourist sights. At 4.15pm on a thursday afternoon! How the hell did no-one see him or stop him? A scumbag through and through.
I think we should use him as a bus stop or cut off his hands or something. Sometimes I dispare at society in general.
:ranting:Rant over. Had to get that off my chest.

Poor woman
On another note thes idiot planners that change the roads, do they ever think of the consquences,in my town we have roads that are indestinguishable from paths, kirbs that jut out all of a sudden and wider islands than needed down main roads, dangerous and kin stupid.

But I bet it looks nice? Sometimes I think the planning departments have been taken over by women (PC correct? Moi?) who view the environment we live in as something to be neatly colour coordinated & laid out (with the taxpayer funding their obsession for tidyness). The road I live off spent a couple of months being dug up (at great inconvenience to the residents) recently. Now the work is finished the road is still the same (regarding a dangerous, accident prone bend & poor surface), but there's some pretty red patches on the sides at seemingly random positions. What's the reason for these patches &, more to the point, how much did the dumbass things cost ME??? Oh yes, not that it matters, but those red patches are very slippery in the wet when on a m/cycle.
Comments on the handbag thief kept to myself as not printable (even on the Net).
Yes it is sad
There was a story in the paper the other day about two ambulance workers who stole the contents of an elderly man's wallet who had just had a heart attack. As he lay there in the ambulance semi-concious he could see them do it.
There is allot of scum in the world these days, and their number is growing

I must say the times ive been walking down/up/across O'Connell Street I've noticed a few people who have just walked out not noticing its an actual road, especially on the streets just leading off O'Connell Street (the one next to Supermacs if you know the area) look like pedestrianised(sp?) areas.
