…..or is everybody else finding that pretty much every single large company/business/utility company/service proivder seems incapable of following the most simple instruction these days??

Todays example:

Last Saturday, I went into my car dealership to book car in for a service for a week on Tuesday. Decided on the Saturday prior to the appointment that I need my car on that day, so phone dealership to cancel:

TT: “Hi, I’d like to cancel my service booking for this Tuesday"
Dealership: “ I’m sorry Sir, we don’t have record of that booking”
TT: “That’s strange, as I booked it in person a few days ago. Oh well, I’d like to cancel the booking anyway”
D: “OK then Sir, no problem. I’ll see that that’s cancelled for you”

I then get a phonecall from the dealership this morning asking what time I’ll be dropping the car off tomorrow for its service...

Go on - share your experiences of blatant corporate incompetence (to make me feel better if nothing else). Over to you guys...

No it's not just you. I've found the same in general. The glowing exceptions for me are Tescos (our local one anyway), and the local Jaguar and Saab dealerships. (The next nearest Jag dealership is, on the other hand, crap) Utility company's - I've st 'em...

Cheers guys.

Felt soooooo much better after getting the first one off my chest , I though I'd add another.....

A few months after booking a holiday, we move house so I phone the travel agents to advise them of the new address. Few weeks later I phone up to check they've updated my file, only to find they still have the old address on file. Give them the new address again, stressing the importance of sending the tickets out to the correct new address. A couple of weeks before the holiday – tickets still haven’t arrived, so I try the old address and sure enough, there they are!!

keep 'em coming U lot - you'll feel a lot better after you've shared!!!

Every single time I hand my lottery form over the counter and say "for tonight, please....."

The assistant takes it to the machine, shoves it in and says.....

"Is it for tonight.......?"

The response "no, it's for last week" tends to throw them somewhat......

Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks that "Is it jusr me?" is the most popular thread title?

To answer your question, you are seeing the end product of the failure of the British education system to turn out rational, sensible and moderately intelligent human beings.

This is how it all ends, you know.

Ive come to the conclusion its all about common sense, when i was on site working as a brickie during the college holidays we would have students labouring around the site, some of them where well educated and quite clever in their own field but when it came to common sense some didnt have a clue

I'd like to offer a different perspective on that. Last year I worked in Motorola testing base stations. Occasionally the pc would go tits up. So the other workers would look at the pc and go "oo err", "I think we need to ring support" or "It's got a virus." I'd say, I can fix that in about 30secs. All I would get as a response is laughter, because after all I'm only a student and what do I know?

It was the same with many other things. You can see a far better solution for something that would require a lot less effort, but because its not the done way, or they didn't understand, you would just get told to stop being so bloody stupid!

At work last week we had the local company that services one of our vans ring up and ask to send it in for an urgent inspection.
This was a little difficult as the van in question was already at their depot.....

Looking for car parts where i live is a 'kin nightmare,so far ive asked for Loctite for bolts, core plugs, gasket card and cam lube.
I cannot get my head around even Hal****s being the largest chain of car maintenance suppliers around do not hold this stuff in stock.

When i asked for core plugs the guy asked what vehicle they were for,i replied "what range of size core plugs do you carry" he replied we dont stock them anymore.
well why did you ask what vehicle were they for then, getting my hopes up

This takes the biscuit!,on my next visit i asked the young guy behind the counter for some cam lube,he scratched his chin and replied "whats it for" ,i promptly turned around with my two heads and returned to Mars where i stood more chance of finding cam lube, now if i had wanted furry dice, there was a complete range

Hal****s to me are missing the point of car maintenance and screwing it up at the same time eg,Hal****s=such a large company that have the space and opening hours to help supply the average mechanic/enthusiast on the street.
Take one product,
Loctite=supply they largest ranges of thread locks sealers, bearing liquids, glues etc etc on the market and a company you would of thought would have a foothold in halfords door to supply a complete range of their products to the public seven days a week.

Hal***d hold .........Loctite Glue!

Hal****s would help them selves if they could atleast maintain the basic motoring needs such as core plugs, thread locks, gasket card etc etc even if they are parts that dont make £££££££££££'s,along with staff training(know what you are selling)
When i owned my own flower shop we had various "loss leaders" to entice customers into the shop even basic florist stuff we could sell to the trade for no profit, but once we got them through the door it was up to me to sell money making goods or it came back though referel,Hal****s to me is fast turning into a babyseat and furry dice supplier and needs a serious petrol head to go in there and give it a new image.
Ime for hire on a part time consultancy bassis

I work in the Law faculty of a University, nothing too unusual about that. However, when we pick up the telephone, we are staggered by the level of intelligence shown by the muppet on the other end....for example
ME:'Good morning, faculty of Law, can I help you?'

MUPPET:'Is that the faculty of Law?'

ME: 'No, you've come through to the Taj Mahal indian takeaway, can I take your order?'

Are they deaf, stupid, or both
