I think not. I have nothing whatsoever against muslims or islam but I've just been reading through the problem page on IslamOnline. This site is run by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi who claims to have a 'third way' between western values and fundamentalism.

Just reading through the problem pages on his site makes me doubt that very much. He makes Southern American Baptists seem like hedonistic maniacs.

Christ on a bike. It appears that ladies who abide by what the eminent scholars and Muftis have to offer on that site cannot initiate a conversation with strange men, but hey its alright because there is nothing wrong in a woman’s going out as long as she abides by the Islamic code of dress, obtains her husband’s permission before going out, and the place she wants to go to is not of a suspicious nature, and this would not affect her family duties.

in addition to this It is permissible for a woman to speak to a male relative, a teacher, a neighbor, a supervisor at work, and others according to the requirements and needs of every day life and complex relations amongst people in our days, as long as trust is established, troubles (fitnah) are restrained, and conditions are normal.

I respect their right to spout such shit, but how can anyone take this seriously? Most of Luton dont if you walk through the arndale centre on a saturday...
