This is the story of a kid, and its supposed to make you think about how you listen and read people. He was a happy kid till a couple of years ago, when his whole world was turned upside down. Inside him, he was left feeling lonely and cold, his friends having deserted him.
Somehow he coped though, and kept a brave face.

Insecurity is a horrible thing, and he was scared. Some people have big secrets and he had one that he wanted very few people except his best, most trustworthy friends to know.

So he told 6 people, the ones he trusted the most, and 5 of them proved untrustworthy. Only to make things worse, he was set up in a trick and made to look like a total fool – rumours quickly spread. Until now, his one best friend stood by him and helped him through it.
This one guy talked to him through the rough times, picked him up when he was down and defended him from others. He was seen as a saviour I the kids eyes. Put simply, he was exactly what the kid needed, someone to lean on in the hard times, but after years of friendship he was told it wasn’t to be. After all this time, something had changed apparently. Walking away is the hardest thing, and he would never ask for help, this one friend had always known – but what could he do now, he was alone and cold again, but now no one was sticking by his side…
The idea of this story is to make you think twice about what you do and say to people, and maybe actually mean it when you ask how they are. It may be an almost imperceptible change in someone that you notice and normally wouldn’t bat an eye lid at, but maybe, just maybe there is something wrong and all they need is someone to stand by their side. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”.

Its a good story.

My two penneth:
There are four types of people in life.

1) Those who dont give a tossed salad
2) Those who do care, but jump into the hole and in doing so, dont actually pull the fallen out, but feel good themselves for having spent time in the hole with the fallen (martyrs)
3) Those who think drink and drugs are cool
4) OMG, I just saw bob marley fly past the window in a hot air balloon with waving his TomTom sat nav about like a lasso, handing out scotch and splifs to the public, woohooooo Im outa here!

That's very pessimistic Bob!
Believe it or not there are a few altruistic people still left in this world. Granted they are becoming few and far between but they still exist!

Im altruistically inclined Lois. Jumped in every hole, rescued everyone from everything, and have been asked on more than one occasion by people thrice my age crying on my shoulder if I was god or an angel. I lost count of the number of times I reduced adults to tears over the years, disarming them with my generous/caring nature, I just learned to pace myself, thats all.

With infinite sadness in the world, theres room enough for my semi-humerous drivel on a gassing station in cyberspace

Personally I don't expect anything from anyone, I've been let down by people who swore they would never let me down. Its human nature and you can't whine about people letting you down, ignoring the way you feel or occasionally treating you like shit because you WILL at some point do exactly that to someone else. I've had a few knocks and given a few knocks. Take it as it comes.... right, where's that cork screw?

Can we have some sort of icon denoting angst ridden threads? The pie and piston is turning into a f**king portishead theme pub!

Lighten up Milner. Glass half full etc. The P&P is nothing more than a snippet of time frozen textually, a reflection of aspects the world we all live in.
