... for over two days now - none of us can coax it down and our combined selection of ladders can`t reach it!:(

The RSPCA was informed when it first happened but apparently could not classify it as an emergency until 48 hours had passed (and possibly the cat may have got down by its self due to hunger etc in this time). After several phone calls, they were due to visit earlier this afternoon and if unable to rescue themselves, would then call the Fire brigade (the Fire brigade can`t come out to this sort of rescue unless specifically requested by the RSPCA).

However, it is now 8pm and they have still not turned up - I can see the cat spending a 3rd night balanced on the peak of the roof at this rate or possibly falling off :(

Can't claim originality I'm afraid, found it here :

www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=141&t=208752&h=0

o/p - sorry, not being much help Assuming it wants to get down but can't (and nice smelling food like fish fingers haven't helped) I guess the only thing you can do is provide a way down - is there a flat roof nearby (a garage) which isn't too different in height that you could "access" the cat from? If it's genuinely stuck I can't really see how you can help without the fire brigade or something

My In-Laws cat got out of their garden a week or so ago (don't get me started on trying to keep a cat with garden boundaries)... anyway. It went missing. It was found a long way up a tree.

They did the RSPCA and Fire Brigade and got the same answers as you. In the end, they called a Tree Surgeon. They apparently get this all the time.

Now - a roof is different to a tree I'll grant you, but they'll have ways and means of getting high enough and will be used to it.

Also, he did say to hold a sheet below the tree just in case it jumped.

Maybe another avenue to pursue?

As far as I'm aware it will come down when it's ready even if it has to jump. 48 hours isn't all that long but I know how anxious you will be. Now, a week would be a lot more worrying.

Boosted.

or... have you thought about throwing a dog up there?

If that gets stuck... throw a horse up... etc.

My tree surgeon suggestiong is a serious one by the way. Probably your best bet to be honest.

Has anyone ever seen a cat skeleton up a tree or on a roof?

Cats are amazing climbers and can climb down just as easily as they climb up.

Ignore it. It'll come down when it's ready.

The best thing to use is a crossbow with a string tied to the other end to pull it out of the tree.

Seriously: Cats up trees or on roofs etc normally come down on their own (as per sparkythecat) and TBH all this worrying and noise maybe why the poor thing is too frighened to come down.

Don't know if this is true but I remember this:

Old lady has cat stuck up tree.

Fire Brigade turn out and rescue it.

Old lady is so grateful she invites them all in for tea and buns.

On leaving afterwards, the firemen accidentally run the cat over with their truck...

The one I heard ended up with her "doing" all of the firemen.

The punchline was something about her pussy needing rescuing... or something.
