Showing live on CNN news, a "Jet Blue" Airbus with it's nosewheel at 90 degrees is burning off fuel to make an emergency landing at LAX. Never seen anything like that before! :yikes:

Absolutely stunning landing!

Fair play that must have taken balls the size of space hoppers! Landed it bang on the centre line of the runway.

Text-book landing, some of the media do go slightly overboard but it was still a relief to see it land safely . Fascinating to watch though.

Reminds me of an Iberia (I think) plane that had to land with no front landing gear whatsoever.

The pilot put the back end of the plane down on the runway and literally wheelied for ages to scrub off speed then plonked the front end down.

Absolutely brilliant pilot skills.

Think the headlines might not have been so good if that had been a Boeing.

Well done to the Captain any PHer's on this flight btw.

....and I have heard people complain about how much pilots earn.... well, when the proverbial hits the fan, they are you best bet on survival.... so they better be well trained, experienced and paid damn well.....

BiL is a pilot and I earn more than he does - shocking really!

Straight down the middle Nice!

Would have been a bit alarming circling for three hours though.

Do you think that a Boeing airliner has never had landing gear problems?

There is a video clip which can be found on the Internet of a 737 making a landing without the nose gear lowered AT ALL.

I have personally seen a Boeing 707 make an emergency landing at Dublin with one set of main gear stuck at the take off angle and the other in the correct landing position. Made for an interesting landing.

Don't 737's have a well documented problem with the Elevators as well??

Two fatal 737 crashes occured in 1993 and 1994 due to an uncommanded full deflection of the rudder. No reason as to why the rudders suddenly flipped 90 degrees was ever found and so far, it does not seem to have recurred.

Boeing make excellent airliners, as do Airbus. Neither manufacturer is partiularly worse than the other.
