Have just caught my neighbour dumping diesel down the street's drain.
I'm pretty sure this is illegal (as is his purchasing of red diesel!) but I'm more concerned that we get lots of people walking down this street and it could only take one cigarette or car spark to blow the whole drainage system!!! You can see he's spilt quite a lot around the drainage area.

God with this going on on one side, the chavs over the road and the stench of curry one the other side, I think I best move out! :hehe:

Diesel is not flammable under those sort of conditions

It would take more than a fag eng to ignite diesel. More worrying is the environmental issue.. .. ..

As has been said, flamability is not an issue but the environmental impact was.

What confuses me is why anyone would tip diesel away especially with prices like they are.

Could it have been used engine oil?

Although diesel burns well once it is lit it is quite difficult to light,(I used to refuel aircraft with kerosene similar stuff to diesel). It is toxic though so you don't really want it getting in the drainage/water system.Sounds like you've got the nieghbours from hell, what you need is a few pher's round to tell them to be nice to you.

I'm assuming it was diesel, definately had a petrol/diesel smell to it. He also stopped doing it when my sister turned up and saw him.

Nope different one wanting to add yet more smells to the street - so now it smells like a petrol curry!

It's horrid - see the other thread. Having the constand strong smell of curry day in day out in your garden and in your house. I hate the smell of curry and it turns my stomach

just report him to the Environment Agency, that is really bad - road drains go straight into the streams and rivers of our green and pleasant land....check your local ducks/swans/fish n stuff for a funny dieselly smell
