I notice North Korea has promised to end it’s nuclear weapons development program (…again…) in return for aid and electricity. How long do PHers expect this agreement to last then? Is it really prudent and wise that we give them greater access to resources when clearly so far all they have managed to do is feed their army and develop missile systems to threaten Japan with?
If they were shutting down an nuclear power program in exchange for aid, and energy, I could understand it, but nuclear weapons have a vastly different agenda to energy. You can't replace a nuclear weapons agenda with merely aid and energy. The two don't match. Nuclear weapons are there to either be threatening, a detterent, or as a weapon to be used. You cannot do the same with aid and energy.
plus... would you trust this man??

Yesterday they say they will abandon their nuclear arms project, today they ask for a reactor.
Give them a reactor!
I say that we send them a reactor and include instructions to assemble it written by the people who write instructions to those impossible Lego sets, by the time they assemble it we will all be living on another planet.
Throw in some random pieces while we are at it, claim on the front of the instruction book “must be completely assembled for correct operation”.
Perhaps we should give them a classic carbon reactor and a letter saying “batteries are not included”. They will tirelessly search everywhere for the appropriate battery slot.
Didn’t a boy scout called David Hahn build a breeder reactor in his mum’s garden shed? I wonder if he has thought about doing contract work for the North Koreans?

^^^ - Oh thats such a good idea. Hell why not give them a nuclear missile as well so they can defend themselfs incase of hostile attack. Amazing how this closed socity that keeps its people in the dark about the outside world and the evils of the west etc now wants things on a plate.
Give us a break
Give us a breakThey start rattling their sabres every time they run out of food.
They have one of the largest armies in the world, certainly by capita, and yet they can't feed themselves.
Vietnam used to rely on aid but is now one of the largest rice producers in the world. Maybe the NKs should concentrate more on agriculture instead of trying to look scary?

Didnt Iraq supose to have one of the largest or 3rd largest man armies in the world before the wars?
Baghdad was supposed to be one of the most heavily defended cities in the world (against air attack any way) pre 1991, so was Hanoi in the vietnam war and later most of the former Yugoslavia when NATO decided to lob a few bombs there way.
Biggest army in the world? Just more targets to hit really
