Did anyone see it? It was pretty good, but when I heard he had hypothesised that matter could disappear I almost fell off the sofa :yikes:

And why has it changed from "Matter cannot be destroyed, merely change it's state." to "Information cannot be destroyed."?

I really thought Schroedlinger was going to get a mention at one point :)

I came in half way through and couldn't make head nor tails of it. What is information exactly?

Next time I'm stopped by the police and asked for my details can I say, 'Sorry, that information has been sucked into a black hole' and refer him to Prof Hawkings?

Don't ask me, I'm not a scientist

The expression used to be that matter could not be destroyed, but it seems to have changed to information cannot be destroyed. I'm assuming it was his theory that black holes could disappear which changed all that.

Information is more fundamental than matter or energy. Otherwise all you have is a mess.

The programme started by quoting Hawkin: "the universe is a really weird place and we'll probably never understand it". As the programme continued, I was inclined to agree with him.

That's easy, when it becomes anti matter in this universe it becomes matter in a parallel universe, if you refer to the gigglefluke 'any bollox is true till you prove it isn't' theory it does anyway, therefor the most improbable theory will stand the test of time (relatively)
