Hullo all. This is such a diverse website, I thought I'd pop a post here to see if there are any PH LARPers or re-enactors?

Specifically, I'm thinking of buying some armour with the proceeds of my car sale. Is there anyone who knows of a good armourer where I can get a suit of gothic plate?

I have a friend who is into re enactment and another (who I haven't spoken to in ages) who is very, very in to LRP (used to do it myself a long time ago). I'll see if they know anywhere.

LARPing and re-anacting are quite different. Re-enacting looks like a great laugh but LARPing.... Hmmm watch this and decide for yourself:

Much better with sound.

I met a chap called Kevin Hicks last month. He's a technical advisor to Bernard Cornwell, a re-enactor and bowman and resident medeival person at Warwick Castle. kevinhicks@blueyonder.co.uk, or info@historysquad.co.uk

Very entertaining character, brilliant storyteller.

Try www.nortonarmouries.com very light, survives being thrown in a box for ages and looks the thing.

LAPRing is a great laugh and a lot of peole take it seriously and you can have a good time having fights with the weapons. My friend helps organise a annual meeting at a castle, attendence is usually a good few hundered people.

Re enactment hurts like hell!! Another mate does it and has come back with some pretty serious injuries from doing it.

Thanks all. I've looked at the gear on eBay and it looks a little bit flimsy. I bought a mail hauberk and a replica crusader helm from there last year and it does the trick, but I really want some decent plate now. The mail is "butted" mail, which means no rivets, which means missing links and frequent repairs

I've also looked at Norton's stuff, but I don't want foam/latex armour. I really do want 18 gauge steel (or 16 gauge if I can get it at the right price).

Keep the information coming.
