Is that to see the one parked at Filton airfield? Great shame she has to sit out in the open instead of flying the skies like she was designed to

I think you can book to go onto the one at Manchester Airport.

Might do that soon. My sister flew on it a few times and I can't deal with the continual bragging.

I'm gonna make the trip and take a hip flask with Champagne so I can tell her I've done the same.

Don't forget the "E" at the end.

That became a national issue in the 60s and very nearly caused a major rift bewteen the British and the French. In the end, the French spelling "Concorde" was accepted.

I worked for a company back in the 60's that made parts for the first Concord and Concorde. Won a flight to the Bay of Biscay in a lottery for the people who made the parts. Still have the tie I was given as a souvenir.

One of the biggest regrets of my life was never equating the knowledge that my father's cousin was a Concorde pilot with the notion of enquiring whether there might be the possibilty of 'family privileges'.

I actually met him for the first time last year and it came up in conversation that I was a big fan of Concorde. He told me I should have let him know whilst Concorde was still flying as he would have had no problem getting me on one of the "once round the bay" jollies they used to fly.

I think I will regret that forever.

Wife bought us a trip to Toronto - coming back on Concorde. Runway at Toronto is too short to take off with a full fuel load so that had to take off and land in Mondtreal and then head for London.

Taking off under full acceleration TWICE. Man that was cool.

What a plane.

Edited to mention: Pilot: "You may notice two thumps in your back. We're about to engage reheat and go supersonic." WHUMP WHUMP. Cooooool. Faaaaast.

Its such a shame to see these birds grounded - its going to be some time before we see any kind of sucessor being introduced...

They should have sold them to Branson and at least give them a fighting chance to stay aloft

I wish i could have flown on one. Seeing them take off is quite an experience.

Ambassadors of good old-fashioned British engineering spirit - never mind whether it's economically viable, let's build it anyway because we can. Aviation technology got a huge leg-up from the development of Concorde. Fantastic aircraft, and aweseome to see in action.

I was driving around the Heathrow perimeter road once on the way to pick someone up from T4, hot day, all the windows and sunroof open. Just as we drove past the end of the runway, Concorde took off right over our heads. The sound of me sh1tting myself was totally drowned out I've never heard anything so loud in all my life!

They should still be flying.

French engineering too.

It was a joint effort, don't forget.

Concorde's legacy is not aerodynamic or technological, but commercial. It was the first truly international co-operative aerospace project. Nowadays, nearly all such projects are international collaborative efforts.
Concorde proved that different countries and different companies with different cultures and even different languages could work successfully together.

BA made no serious attempt to keep them in the air. I will never fly with them again.

Realistically, would it ever be possible to get one flying again?

Of course. They weren't exactly on their last legs when they stopped. Well most of them weren't...

Just how much money do you want to throw at them?
