Is there any particular reason that in the last week or two there have been so many threads filled with total drivel?

I'm not talking about the "chatty" ones, I think everybody enjoys them and if they don't they shouldn't be in the P&P.

It's the ones full of in jokes and seemingly nonsensical crap. I wouldn't mind if it was the occasional "just got in from the pub" thread; and even the "Problem" threads last week were amusing for a short while. But it's just happening more and more.

IMHO it's getting totally out of control and I for one am getting a little bored with filtering through all the crap.

Any chance people can exercise a little more self control or take it to MSN before the signal to noise ratio in here gets any lower?

Cheers

I was thinking something similar but i was going to keep it to myself
I can see this turning into a members site if it carries on though.
Possibly with a fee.!
Abuse it and loose it etc.
Ever thought about that?

"Nobody likes a good laugh more than me. Except perhaps my wife..." etc.

Yeah I know, maybe I'm being a miserable old git but I don't see the point in the private threads on a public forum, dilutes the good stuff.

It is the whole thing going on with the mods and certain phers..

I for one can't believe Ted or who ever is in charge made Gazboy a mod tbh!

I mean Gazboy can get in some real stroppy moods and with his temper crossing over with the powers he has?

And he is acting pretty immature for a mod if you ask me with this comments tonight starting to show his true colours?

Sigh.

I have nothing against the guy, just is this how low mods have gone now?

(he may now delite his comments he made on certain threads)

Oh no, not again

Define drivel. Which specific threads failed to live up to expectations? It really is a conundrum wrapped up in a riddle. You see to me, one mans meat is another mans poison. Vive la difference, live and let live etc.....

Is it that difficult to tell them apart?

The ones I am talking about seem to consist mostly of saying "Hi, how are you?" to a specific person (use email FFS, nobody's impressed because you've got a friend!), nonsensical little private cliquey jokes ("there on the stair", etc.) and threads that are just about nothing!

Surely this section is for non-motoring discussion? Great! But not for banal wastes of bandwidth! That's what usenet is for!

Seriously if you want to do that either take it to email/irc/msn where the rest of us don't have to read the crap, or petition Ted for a "Muppet Show" section like Scoobynet where you can post whatever in jokes and other crap you want and I don't have to sort through it looking for threads that I can actually understand

Is it just me who finds this annoying? I am sure it never used to be like this. I am the first to get annoyed at heavy-handed mods closing threads and questioning relevance in a section. I stopped using a text based BBS I have been on for over a decade because of it, and I post much less frequently on a popular Saab board with overactive mods, but surely there is some middle ground?

Sorry for the rant...

Hi NCOT - how you doing? Remember the incident the other day, not funny now is it? Also, I've got that this we talked about the other day.

Though I've not been around for a week, a while ago (maybe a couple of months) when the same topic came up I completely agreed that things had gone too far and was pleased things got toned down a bit, however - I don't see it's got *THAT* bad recently?! There is always a certain 'element' that will stay though I guess. (not meant in a detrimental way)

I'm not (usually) one for the "drivel" threads, but I would point out that the world's being a bit of a Bvww3r about a lot of things at the moment and I guess a lot of people look for a bit of light (and silly) relief somewhere like this.

To an extent it's good to see, and to an extent could you all not just keep posting something in the Sean Connery thread and all be a bit more pleasant about things???

You'll wear the bl00dy padlocks out if you're not careful!

Oh and you forgot the "inane" bit, NCOT!

Human mayonaise.

I read that a bulldog slobbering mayonaise is the visual equivalent of the female genatilia after sexual intercourse.

Above, is an example of drible, er... I mean drivel.
