or am I the only one.

I purchased a really good Kenwood tape player about 10 years ago and its been great but just lately its being playing up. Plays slowly until its warmed up a bit so I think I really need to upgrade, probably to CD.

I had a look when I got some new Kenwood front speakers and a bottom end Kenwood CD player is only about £110:). I paid £325:eek: for my tape player all those years ago.

Im assuming your all 6 disk changers or ipods

Nope you are not the only one, the Mini has an original Rover Stereo tape deck

I figure that as the damn car is so noisy now with the new exhaust putting in any ICE would be pointless and I like listening to the engine anyway.

yep, i still ahve a tape player in my car. its one of those kenwood MASK units, with a separate changer in the boot.
i wont make the switch until round the horne/the goonshow are all on cd. i find it less hassle to make up my own tapes than it is to make up an audio cd..

I've got a Pioneer DEH-P77MP WMA / MP3 / CD player from Car Audio Direct

Looks and sounds - loud enough to be heard at motorway speeds over the exhaust...

Yep. It came with the car, and it's also a 10-CD changer... must have been bloody expensive when new but probably fourpence-ha'penny nowadays.

The Goon Show is 81 shows on 21 disks.
Round The Horne is on 39 disks, broken over 4 collectors editions and the "Complete and Utter History" disk. There was a limited complete set released earlier this year for the 40th anniversary.

shameless thread hijack over. Sorry

You have just reminded me my head unit can run a 6 disk changer. Wonder what would be cheaper a single CD head unit or a changer for the boot

My brother had an MR2 which came with a minidisk changer. I think he got fed up of having to transfer everything over to minidisk

The cost of car sound systems has come tumbling down. Partly due to the level of competition and partly because of the extremely low cost of manufaturing in China.

I Inever used to buy tapes just CD's then tape them to play in the car.

I suppose the problem with CD's is when ever you want to listen to a certain CD it will be in the car and visa versa

In car record player...

and the fantastic 8 track, which for the youngsters out there was a magnetic tape that was wide enough to have eight tracks on it alongside each other, you pushed a button to move the head on the tape so you could switch to any track instantly.
