Some of you may recall a long story from last year when we bought our current house but I won't go over all the details again. In brief we were ripped off by a couple (ex- Met Police) who stripped loads of stuff out of the house and caused damage before clearing off to the States. Hence British law didn't apply and we couldn't realistically pursue them.

We've discovered this weekend that they are back and apparently have even been sniffing around our house whilst we're at work. The husband is a nasty piece of work and caused our next door neighbour lost of grief and expense, so I don't know whether it's worth the stress of pursiung them for sake of £9000.

We're also a bit worried they'll snatch their cat back that they dumped when they left but we are now rather fond of her.

I think I'll follow them a few times and see where else they have any connections and also find out where they are staying.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but why are they sniffing round your house now?

Just be careful mate. If they're the vindictive type and they've still got BiB mates, they could cause you major grief.
It happened to me when I was renting a room in a house owned by an ex BiB in Dudley. I was 3 days late with the rent, and I found 2 squad cars waiting for me at the flat when I got back from work. I was verbally abused and intimidated and was left in no doubt that the landlord wanted me out.

We half expected them to come back as I had been doing a bit of digging and found that the rented out another property in another area (not local).

But we were a bit surprised to find that they had come back to where they used to live. We think they may be interested in buying a house near to us now.

Not sure why they have been sniffing around our house unless they're just curious as to what work we have done. Our neighbour saw them and was real really worried we were going to sell them the house again.

I would call your local police station and get this incident logged. They won't do anything of course, but if anything happens in the future you will have it recorded that you had concerns and knew who it was - which should help.

As for pursuing them for the 9K - If it were me I would on a point of principle - but you have to be clear in your own mind if you want the hassle.

That's terrible and I know what you mean, we were warned at the outset that we could get harrassed by their old pals.

What a corrupt society we live in.

I tell you what, if I find them on our property my rifle will be coming out the safe.

Inform the Chief of Police, in writing that you were verbally abused by ex (and serving officers) and copy it to your MP.
