Is this normal,

Last night we had a large spider in house (I hate spiders so by large I mean a couple of inches leg span). Said spider was squished but tonight we have had 4 spiders all large ones, and all look the same kind of spider.

Are spiders in Britian getting bigger? Or moving into houses more now because I cant remember having so much spiders in house in one night!!!! and its freaking me out!!

Horrible creepy things,

Cheers

I think I read something about a spider plague in the UK the other week in a newspaper.

I had a few wasps in the bathroom the other night but no spiders.

Sipders are seasonal, in that they come out at this time of year... i was told. They have an upside. Catch one, and you can chase your lady with it. Or threaten to if you have issues to negotiate with her

I had one fall on my neck from a ceiling in a dingy walk up flat I was working in a few weeks ago (the ceiling was crawling with spiders) and I was still shakey hours after!! Luckily tenant was up stairs or I would have look like a proper girls blouse :P

i've massacred a fair few tonight. They are pretty damn quick to! They seem to come out at night, and sneak around, looking for spare bars of chocolate or minesweeping the beer!

No, sorry, spiders freak me out. I once had to shoot one with a bb gun because I couldn't leave my room because the big bastard was stood over my door like an eight legged doorman.

Sorry but that is the most perfect string of replies iv'e seen in ages. thanks guys.
I hate spiders too and exterminate them with extreme predudice. Just to make you laugh>: part of the reason i had new carpet fitted was because my extreme predudice involved a can of lynx and a lighter one night. The bugger mad me scorch my own carpet but had the audsasity to leave a reminder or unburnt carpet the size of a 2pence piece where it lay!.

I believe wasps are carniverous and there is in fact a wasp that lays its eggs in the giant terantulaaaaaa!. This may explain the abscence of one for another in your bathroom.
Spiders of the non web spinning variety also HUNT at night.

Bu$$er, i'll be thinking about them now

Funny what freaks people out - I don't mind spiders at all but assassin bugs give me the creeps. All the other arthropods I find I don't bother about, even the wasps, but assassin bugs get squidged pronto (unless they take off when I'm about to squidge them and cause me to shriek and leap back).

My house is full of the little (and sometimes big) blighters, and i really cannot stand them. I can't kill them though, so in the past i have tended to catch them. However, i find my new Dyson vacuum cleaner is good at sucking them up!!

Shot yesterday

It was across our front gate, so we just left it as it wasn't bothering us at all. We forgot about it until this morning when the Postie shouted

Ha, and you think you've got spider problems.

Mrs SS2 is doing contract work for a company that imports tropical fruit into the UK.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the office girls got into her car at the end of her shift and put her handbag on the passenger seat. As she was driving out of the docks, she became aware of movement to her left. She looked over and spotted something like this clambering out of her bag and onto the seat:

Cue one emergency stop and exit car double quick. Port Health were called but they couldn't fine the spider so they sprayed the inside of the car with some stuff, waited a while and then sent her on her way.

Next morning when she came to get into her car, she found a cobweb from dash to roof right across the windscreen The car was impounded and the interior stripped until they found the critter...

Now I don't have a problem with spiders but I'd think I'd have to make an exception if I knew one of those was lurking somewhere in the car...

I have found four or five large spiders in my bed room over the last week. All of which must be destroyed before I get in to bed, otherwise I cant sleep.

I usually just flatten them with a book, but one of them was so big it fought back !
I hit it with a magazine (must have missed) and it ran across the room. So I got out the Lynx and a lighter and BBQ'd the thing. But it just ran back across the room STILL ON FIRE ! I eventually flattened it with a big hard back world atlas. After tearing my room apart looking for the bloody thing.

poor spiders they're really nice...and it aint like any of the UK ones can actually do you any harm whatsoever (you'd need to seriously piss off a really big wolf spider to even get nipped). bunch of ladyboys!

I still have two in pretty much permanent reidence in the elise. god knows what they actually eat though but its cool when they try and stay in their webs once I've got going with the roof off!
