Somebody got the number of one of my cards:furious:

One I haven't used in ages to boot and we are paranoid about shredding anything with details on etc. Fortunately the card company has said they will cancel the charges, all abroad. Card stopped etc.

What do you have to do to be safe:mad:

Showed up on the latest statement.

Mine's been cloned twice.

They sent another card, and I made money on the fx when they refunded USD 1200 back to my account

Shock at first. Follow the rules etc but told it was probably hacked from someone, not what I have done......

I was victim of this once. I guess in todays society there is no 100% way to avoid it. But in all fairness, the CC companies are usually very good at sorting it out and we don't end up financially worse off.

Chip and pin should deal with this (unless they get your pin number as well). If a card is used and the retailer over rides the C&P and accepts a signature instead he is wholly liable in the event of fraud.
