Watchdog and Bulldog
Discussion
Did anyone by chance see Watchdog tonight at 7pm? I had a short recorded interview with the beeb over Bulldog Communications (so they call themselves) and was told I would be on the show. Like a plank I missed it. Did anyone record it by chance or is it repeated?
Two seconds of fame and I missed it. Bloody typical

I was wearing a black shirt and they made me use a Windows XP backdrop on my PC which was behind me - the one with the blue shards of light coming out.
They filmed for about half an hour, but only managed to get one comment and 2 useful seconds of footage
Think I will stick with the day job
It's actualy quite daunting staring into a camera with a microphone stuffed under your chin

No problems with Mr Campbell. I like the guy.
Overall, I think programmes like Watchdog provide a very useful public service function - especially now that channels like ITV no longer seem to have ANY programming where the consumer has any sort of voice.
I was VERY concerned about the problems emanating from the DVLA. What is going on there is nothing short of criminal in that people are having their rights and, in some cases, livelihoods taken away from them because of government incompetence and intransigence.
The general advice seems to be that, if you have recently replaced your old style paper driving licence with a photo-card licence, or had your photo-card licence updated for any reason, check that the class of vehicle now showing on your licence is correct for you i.e. the class for which you passed your driving test.

DVLA data quality problems are well known. Police ANPR surely has to be largely a waste of time.(?)
Makes me very concerned about ID Card Data Base records.
You could end up with a criminal record just because of an in-house cock-up at the ID Card Agency (no doubt there will be one) and they will refuse point blank that they have made any mistake.
One chap on yesterday's programme faxed a copy of his old licence to the DVLA to prove what category of vehicle he had been entitled to drive on his old licence before the DVLA mistakenly changed the licence category. They refused to acknowledge the authenticity of the copy licence and accused him of forging evidence.
Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and I hope some MP takes on this disastrous situation as an urgent issue in the House of Commons.
