Wales or bust......

Got to go to Wales (trefforest) from brighton tomorrow for a meeting at 10.30.
Do the PH massive think it would be quicker to drive, or get the train?
By train should take 5 hours each way, according to the numpty on the rail info line, whereas the rac routeplanner reckons it's 3.5 hours each way. I'd rather drive (obviously), but not if it's likely to end up taking just as long.
Over to you, you motley crew you!

What would you prefer:
1) Sit in your car, with your music, driving how you want to or
2) Be squashed into a train packed with Welsh people and probably a load of sheep.
I think you know the answer
Sorry, don't mean to offend any Welsh people, im sure you're all very nice people *runs for door*

I travel regularly between Brighton and Bridgend, which is a similar distance to Treforest, and it takes anything between 2.5 and 5 hours (but it's very rare for it to take anything like 5 hours). Given that you're going to be travelling in rush hour I'd reckon on it taking you 3.5hrs or so, and possibly slightly more, depending on traffic.
I assume you know you want to go via Bracknell to cut off the corner rather than travelling up to the M25/M4 junction?
Edited to add: The Severn Bridge is £4.80. If you've got the exact change, you can avoid the queues by using the coin bins (right hand side). You have to pay going into Wales, but not coming out. Makes sense really, I mean who in their right mind is gonna pay to get into England?

If you drive you will get at least 14 speeding tickets for having the cheek to try and do business in Wales, the Welsh BIBs have an active policy of discouraging/ harassing evil motorists at every turn, being English won't help you.
Wales is closed for business, you have been warned.

Nothing to see in England, we need a way to keep you lot out so we can enjoy our country for ourselves![]()
Same as getting over the Brunnel Bridge (or the ferry) from Cornwall, we have to pay a quid for the privilege of visiting England....you can get back in for nothing tho'....just mind out that Genghis Trewartha ain't about to lob pasties at you.

you only get tickets for breaking the speed limit. obey the signs and you dont get tickets, is this really too diffcult for some people to comprehend? cannot for the life of me see why someone would organise a meeting in treforest but take a car. its a nightmare on the train and will most likely involve at least two changes. the valley trains up from Cardiff are not the most reliable and though they are never crowded, getting there for 10.30 means a fair bit of contingency planning givn the changes. treforest is easy to get to from the M4 though. I believe it is the birthplace of Tom Jones.
there are cameras on the approach to the toll booths on the M4 once over the bridge, it says 50, do 50, they are not signs for the sake of it. Other than that, there are usually police on the stretch between Newport and Cardiff.
