The soap shop got some great suggestions earlier on so I thought to try it out for myself.

My Dad retired last week and is setting up his own company as a consultant negotiator. Boring sounding I know, but he is well known for his powers of negotiation (he has been a retail purchasing director for nearly 20 years). I've highlighted the negotiation part here as we have a couple of "consultancy" type names already and want to see if anything came come from another angle.

The company won't be advertising or anything but something catchy would interest him. Even a name you know might suit as Irish company law applys unless there is a worldwide tm in place (assuming British names are not tm'd here).

Cheers,

Brian the bread winner :(

I employ about a dozen negotiators. What you need to make sure is that the word "negotiator", or a derivative of it, is NOT in the company name or personal title. Reason being, when he's doing work the last thing you want is for the "other side" to be knowing they're dealing with a professional negotiator, because it's on with the boxing gloves!

Good idea, But if he's still working in the grocery sector, he'll be well known anyway.

depends what sort of negotiation you are looking at, if its all arbitration then your the middle man and not connected to either side.

dubs, what is your old man going to negotiate?

Is he just going to hire himself out as a freelance buyer for retail grocery emporia?

Or is there more to it than that?

I'm not exactly sure to be honest. He's already helped a smaller company deal with grocery giants in so far as getting the best price possible (as purchasers do) and has the bonus of knowing excatly what he was buying them at.

Groceries, eh! How about:

Small Potatoes Ltd
Chip off the old Block Ltd
Increase Your Celery Ltd
Vegetable Mind Ltd
The Pea-shooter Partnership
Cabbages & King Edwards Ltd
The Parsnip Partnership
The Mushroom Crowd
Bread Winners Brothers
Capital Lettice Ltd
Souperman Consultants

...and there's even more crap in the recesses of my brain.

Funny, my Dad retired last Thursday and I set up a company for him.

If your Dad is well known leverage off the name or else try something like "Grocer Solutions"
