Is it just me or is this becoming really common in the UK? I had to get a big beasty (a spider that is ;)) out the bath last night and for the first time hesitated about just picking it up and lobbing it out the window. This is because in the last month I've had one of the guys at work go sick for a week after he got bitten on the wrist by a spider and it swelled up all the way up his arm and then last week one of my mates put on his motocross boots in the garage and the multi legged monster living in it bit his ankle which has now swelled to twice its normal size. So how common is it and are chicks right to be scarred of the little buggers?

We used to have nice decent spiders in this country, now it's being overrun by these bloody violent Chav spiders.

I never had a problem with spiders when I was young, but now they seem more vicious and much, much bigger I found a large beastie in the bathroom a few days ago and instead of scuttling under the door, it went for my toe

last summer i was bitten behind the knee and the lower part of my thigh and upper of my calf muscles had swollen up twice it's size and this was from a spider. I've noticed that because of the wetter winters the bloody beasts are living longer and growing larger.

I got bitten about 6 months ago, little blighter was about 15mm long legs and all, slightly grey/brick red in colour, nasty little nip, and it wouldn't let go...

Found out later that it's a woodlice killer, and they inject venom to kill them, apparently the only types that can do this due to the size and power of the jaws...

whatever next..

The silly cat annihilated a blighter the other day, but spent the next two hours foaming and drooling everywhere, leaving cat muck all over the carpet.

Something tells me she won't go near them again.

It's not just you chicks scared of spiders, I hate the buggers. Small ones OK, but some of them I find in the house are huge, you can even see the bloody fangs.
G/f found one the other day over an inch insize with a body half of that. She put a glass over it and it could actually move the glass along the floor banging into it.
Also had one rear up at me a few months ago (what happened to the time they used to just scuttle away?) cue a swift whack with the hammer I was carrying at the time. Sorted him out!!!

Mel, it's just the impending waxing turning you a bit funny. Expect to get the urge to buy a Smart and wear linene trousers.

I ejected a rather large Mr Spider who has been living in our bathroom the other day, he'd outstayed his welcome as it were...but I'd estimate legs n' al' he was at leat 6cm across. The reason I'd let him stay was he reminded me of a sort of mini tarantula ( had a pet one when I was a kid )

One bit me the other year right in the middle of my palm through the kitchen towel I'd wrapped him in during deportation.
