OK, so I was watching daytime TV and there has been this program called 'Average Joe' on Channel 4...
A woman has to choose from 16 blokes which one she would like a relationship with, she thinks they are all going to be gorgeous bachelors but they turn out to be 'average joes' ie, normal blokes, she does this by elimination over a matter of weeks... half way through the twist is that the show introduces eight of the gorgeous bachelors she was initially hoping for. To cut a very long story short she ends up choosing one of the gorgeous muscle bound guys over the average guy. At this point I feel very sorry for the average bloke who told her he fell in love with her....
...she goes on holiday with the gorgeous guy who she thinks is 'the' one and he tells her he feels the same... ahhhhh  she is also gorgeous btw.
[small]get to the point woman, I hear you cry[/small]
Now for the part that I have the question about, 3 days into this dream holiday they are getting on like a house on fire, all seems well, they look a fantastic couple [small]the guy she chose was seriously gorgeous :lick: Now she chose him out of 25 blokes in total which ought to tell him something...[/small]
She then decides to tell him a secret she had been hiding, confident that all would be well seeing they had started to get to know each other reasonably well..
The secret being that her last boyfriend was FABIO [small]that famous model bloke - although I don't see what people see in him, the bloke she is now with is far nicer[/small]
Well this bloke then decides to leave and walk out on this fledgling relationship in which he seemed so keen, and leaves her halfway through the holiday, all he says to the camera is that every other bloke in his position would feel the same way...
This I just can't understand, her last relationship is over, she chose him, wanted to be with him, he is far better looking than this Fabio geezer, but because of her previous relationship he decides to leave and walk out on what 'might' have been a beautiful relationship... is it as simple as that he feels that he could never measure up to her previous bit of stuff?
I just found it very odd.. I guess its ironic that she chose someone that at the end of the day was very shallow if that put him off so easily, when the guy she turned down would have done anything for her.
Ho hum, that's my musings of the day done with :)

do you mean this bloke? cos i saw the episode when the proper bachelors came onto the show and it seemed to me that they all thought they were supermodels anyway so i dont see the logic of the winner.
plus, how could anyone on their right mind dump that women just cos of who her past bf was!?!? SHE IS GORGEOUS!)

Good ears!
I saw this particular show that you speak of, was a reality show from a few years ago. To some degree I understand his point of view, most guys DO NOT under any circumstance want to know details of their girlfriends previous relationships, especially if they are with someone supposedly better like Fabio (even though he may not be better its still the psychological thing of him being some sort of super lover as well as rich and famous, hard to live up to that). I hope that nerdish homeland security guy didn't take her back as well just to make her feel like crap 'cause she really F
ed him over. the male mind is a fragile thing in this area and must be trated carefully. r988 said:

Its the second series of this idea I have seen now

I watched this yesterday and today and was also shocked at his OTT departure. WTF if Fabio is her ex, he's an ex and thats that!
I thought the average joe guy was dead sweet and he really put his heart on the line for her.
As she said it was amusing after she rejected 25 guys, she was the one who was ultimately rejected. I just hope it gave the other "average joe" guy a bit of a giggle
