When I was a kid I loved Thunderbirds. IMHO it was the best of the Gerry Anderson Supermarionation shows. When my kids were small and it was being repeated I had a great excuse to watch them again and I loved it. :hehe:

I didn't see the movie when it came out but it was on SKY at the weekend so I taped it and watched it last night when MrsU had gone to bed.

What a load of crap!!

Brains never had a son! Tin Tin never had special powers!! Jeff Tracy never went on missions!! Lady Penelope drove a Rolls Royce ffs - not a poxy Ford!!

And worst of all - they were called International Rescue, not The Thunderbirds!!! I guess they had to change that so Americans could understand it.

No wonder Gerry Anderson didnt have much to do with it. A travesty. :grumpy:

Lady penelope was nice though. ;)

I must admit that I have so far resisted watching this film because I just know it is going to be a big pile of donkey poop.

Sounds like my concerns are justified.

IIRC, they have always been called "International Rescue". "Thunderbirds" is the name given to the vehicles they use.

Sorry, that was my point.

In the film they are called "The Thunderbirds", not International Rescue.

To paraphrase some else

If the most you've got to moan about is how some puppets refer to each other, life must be pretty bloody good

Oh.

I watched that film on Saturday and seem to remember the 'International Rescue' logo was correct.
I think "Thunderbirds" was simply used by everyone as a nickname.
What did Jeff call the organisation ?

Thats a big part of my youth you're dismissing there.

In this film they're not puppets. The main difference is the puppets were better actors. (Apart from Spophia Miles. )

I too watched this tripe on sat evening, loved Thunderbirds when I was a kid, it even inspired me to make models, which is what I do now! But this travesty of a film hits all the wrong buttons, total rubbish, obviously made ony for US kids of 8 years and younger!

( I taped it too on Sky+ and watched it in bed when missis was asleep! lol)

Probably, I have no interest in sport though so I'm afraid that won't work, try a more personal insult next time, much more effective

The series was called Thunderbirds, and you can be sure the copyright on that is tighter than a bull's arse in flytime.

However the organisation was called International Rescue. The machines were called Thunderbird 1/2/3/4/5.

I always found it unfair that 1 and 2 got all the action; 3 and 4 didn't get out much.

I have a friction drive T1, a Corgi T2 with legs that go 'ping' and a metal Fab 1
